It would probably be easier to get the kids to clean up after themselves, if the time they spend here was more structured, but it isn't. Their parents don't come get them, most of the time I don't even know they have left until I look around and find them gone. They are allowed to come and go around the neighborhood as they wish (several families operate this way on our block). If it were a playdate type of situation, it would be much easier to get them to do what is needed, but that isn't how it goes. I don't have their phone numbers and frankly it's easier for me just to tell them they aren't allowed in the house than to walk around the neighborhood looking for them every time they leave without pitching in. Maybe after they have been denied entrance a few times, I will give them another chance and see if it changes at all.
