Dixie Chicks

I dunno... I have had egg eaters.... they usually EAT, so everything is cleaned up, just tiny little left overs.

So, I don't think you have an egg eater... I think it got stepped on.

I sometimes get eggs that aren't as strong as I would like. Dunno why... they have oyster shell
speaking of oyster shell, mine have it available at all times and some of my eggs have white dots all over them, some uniform some not. someone loves their calcium a bit too much. can this hurt them?

would love to know as well I was reading on egg stuff the other day and that was mentioned violet does that as well I figured she was just hitting oyster shell alot but I read something about it being a sign of something perhaps...was on my check out things to do list

I may or may not remember this correctly but I think vitamin E might cause the spots on the eggs a lack of or overabundance of I can't remember... Bumps not pigment... On my first post in this thread there is a link to information about common egg quality problems check it out

thanks again for doing that, lol told you it would come in handy LOL

thanks I had run across the egg thing the other day but was researching something else had made a mental note to check into it further later.. in mean time I had slowed down on some of the treats and been having them rely bit more on their pellets as I had seen was some kinda maybe deficiency..but it was as I said a really brief glance as I was hunting up some other info...

oh yes I rememeber when I came across it was looking up some info in regards to the eggs I hatched was checking into the spotting ( or apparently larger pores in the shells) cuz I wanted to let the lady I got the eggs from know

thats what I thought when they flatten themselves like that was broody thing but when I went looking for broody info I got sitting in the nest attitude yaddida yaddida...and I couldnt think where I might have read that about the chicken flattening themselves... hrmm well if she is broody I got to decide do I wanna give her the chicks or keep em inside so can make sure they are well use to being handled... or maybe give her a chick or two and have rest inside...........first for sure will keep watching her see if she persists in this slowly more n more broody type behavior...hate to give her chicks and she abandons them
Not all hens will adopt chicks. She hasn't been broody very long so the chances are reduced that she would accept them. You could find some eggs to put under her once she shows she is serious.
