Dixie Chicks

Jem, I know you'll love this one......an broody Silver Laced Wyandotte....she is flattened here. This is how I keep others from laying in a broody nest. Dog crate on the floor of the coop. Hen moved from the community nests on to her separate nest after dark. Water and food inside the crate and the door opened each morning to allow her to stretch her legs.

Since you have an interest in combs. Here is an example of a nice rose comb on a Silver Laced Wyandotte cockerel.

I have to stake everything to a fence or the ground here.... The wind has been known to flip over whole horse barns leaving the horses standing where they were....

You can build a wind break.... just a short fence a few feet away from any structure you want to protect. Make it tall enough so the wind is forced up and over your Shed, coop, trash cans.... etc. It only has to be a short length of fence made of solid wood or chainlink with slats in it.

I have issues with keeping gates and doors on sheds.... So It has to be secure if its solid.

Even stacks of straw work excellent for a temorary wind break.

In the winter I used to make straw igloos for my goats.... They would last a good two years...

Straw igloos sound too cool

looks alot like a chicken dumpling recipe with a thick roux sauce instead of a liquidy broth kewl thanks so much for sharing :)
Yeah it's a Hungarian chicken n dumping. The dumplings taste different than any other i've had and are my favorite dumpling. Paprika and sour cream make it rich tasting.

Ok now I really have to go get some sleep. nite all!
