Dixie Chicks

I go make dinner and eat and am lost again, lol.

@perchie.girl love the straw igloo idea! I'd be kinda worried about mold here tho.

@Alaskan Yes, I'll be putting in a screened window on the coop, I did them on the shed I renovated into a coop earlier, worked great. The roof is also open on both sides at the peak and there is a hidden gap in the front under the roof for ventilation. It doesn't look it, but is ventilated pretty well already without drafts.
And our cold isn't as bad as your cold, so insulation is not top priority, keep it vented and releasing that moisture is, which is our worst prob here. Humidity is very, very high, lol.
As for crowing all night long, they already do that, lol. Down in the valley a guy has at least 100 game cocks and at least one is always going off and my Roos always have to answer. Crowing doesn't bother us, but those game cocks do.

No mold the goats nibble on the outside and prune it.... LOL... but I am in a very dry climate. We get mostly strong winds in the winter. About 72 hours worth of snow and thats about it. I dont even worry about the Bermuda for the horse getting wet.

And believe me I am a stickler for good quality hay. I do keep the bales covered but her whole bale that goes in the feeder gets wet.

Okay, still catching up..
IW-thats a great pic!!

Thanks for posting the wing sexing pics, starting to make more sense now.
All thanks for the input on the bird. Neighbor was worried, pullet is jumping on another hen in a very roo like way...lol.I think it's revenge.

lol Not worried about you getting mold, but us getting it. I could already tell you are of the good horsepeople, I have no doubts to the quality of care and food all your animals get! ;) I am worried to try that here as our humidity is insanely high. Was looking for a low cost good shelter for goats as Jim wants to get a couple. Told him I'd only have myotonics and he likes that idea. Gotta finish coops and pens first tho, lol.

my dog has his head in my lap and is pathetically moaning... Mooching for left over dinner scraps! NO, bad puppy! Wish I could post a video of his sounds!
Lmao! Had to look twice. First glance was thinking...why is there a wig in your lap???

very cute dog though.
Jem, I know you'll love this one......an broody Silver Laced Wyandotte....she is flattened here. This is how I keep others from laying in a broody nest. Dog crate on the floor of the coop. Hen moved from the community nests on to her separate nest after dark. Water and food inside the crate and the door opened each morning to allow her to stretch her legs. Since you have an interest in combs. Here is an example of a nice rose comb on a Silver Laced Wyandotte cockerel. 8 month old pair
Those birds are just beautiful!! @chickwhispers Thanks for sharing recipe. Sent in email to myself and my granny.

LOL No worries. Hey they only need a three sided shed and if its low enough a flat roof so they can play king of the hill on it. I was going to build a shed with an old picnic table but predators got my goats before I could I would love to build something like this: but would probably wind up with something like this: deb
Oh, I LOVE the first one! But agree, mine would end up looking like the second one too, lol. Just a simple run-in shed eh? Sounds doable. Haven't had goats since I was a kid, I remember their attitudes and taking care of them, etc, but for some reason I couldn't remember housing requirements. My head is stuck on chickens and coops, lol. Sorry about your goats, hon. :(
