Dixie Chicks

Nice to hear they're doing well. Hilma hasn't given birth yet, at least not that I've noticed.

I just spent the past couple of hours assisting in dog birth. One of our semi-neighbors dog went into labor today, a couple of days prematurely. They had asked Karin if she was willing to be on call for the birthing process, and Karin called me around eleven and told me to get my butt over there, their 18 year old daughter was freaking out because the dog had given birth to a lifeless puppy and another one was barely breathing. It's their first litter, and the first one for the dog too, who's already 6 years old, quite an advanced age to be a first timer. The second puppy perished after about an hour as well, but the third puppy was born out onto the lawn while the dog went for a pee, and that one was a healthy boy. The fourth and last one was a bit of a runt too, but he was pretty active and very vocal, so I think he's got a fighting chance. Cute little buggers they are, but I'm happy we don't have puppies here. In a few weeks they will be terrorizing the owners.

Im over my limit on mixed beverages.
If u show me pics of my grandchicks..and tell me what egg they hatched from...I can prob identify the parents now.
the big cream colored eggs you said were brahma were the ones who hatched except the cream legbar egg all of them hatched out white except the blue brahma/maran cross and the cream legbar

glad you ok,
I tried to post last night, but it was pouring rain like crazy and winds strong. Therefore it knocked out my internet connection. Happens here in the boonies. Suppose to rain more today and tomorrow. JOY. The frogs are so loud out there you can't hear yourself think.

@perchie.girl , I'll take you shoe shopping!!

@Amberjem , I forgot to tell you I added a new breed of chicks to my flock this year. New to us. They're called Amberlinks. They are growing faster than the other chicks. I got 4 of them and I'm excited about them. They are suppose to lay 300 eggs a year. WOW!

@vehve , idk if I answered you about my bunnies. They are doing great. Getting big quick. We did see the babies a few times nursing on the mama. They flip upside down when they nurse. One of the babies is huge like his daddy (dad's name is Pig). I told DH the other day I need 3 rabbits butchered so I can put the 3 babies in their own cages. There are 2 rabbits that are super mean. Not sure why, but they both will jump up when you try to feed/water them and scratch the stuff out of you. Very mean. One of them even grunts while attaching you. It will be my pleasure to put that one in the frying pan.

Well, gotta get little girl ready for school and me ready for work. Have a wonderful day

sorry guys just kinda mega busy here getting slammed with stuff to do and projects underway.......

I suspect Hilma may have given birth today. In my opinion, she looks skinnier than in the morning, and she's clearly done something in the nest during the day. I'll have to wait for Karin to come home and give me a second opinion though. But we might have increased the amount of animals living in our tiny yard. It can be anything between 14 and maybe 24 right now. Plus the three dogs. I think we might be slightly crazy.
