Dixie Chicks

I Had two breach chicks in my last hatch... They TRULY took way longer than I would have thought, To get the blood to dry up....

Not saying you shouldn't poke after 48 hrs... I am just saying to go super slowly. :fl

Hi Jem

But still no change in last night's pip. Tomorrow night I'll help some more.. It'll be 48 hrs then.

They seriously drag their butts... I intervened to early on one (or 3) and getting to see what they are doing to get out of that egg was like a revaluation. They are in there in a contorted position rapidly opening and closing their bills, tapping away at the shell hundreds of times just to get a crack to appear. All the while that yoke is absorbing, and fuleing them. They sure take their time, and seeing why made me far more comfortable keeping my hands off... All the eggs I messed with lived though.

This is seriously the most tiny little duckling I've ever seen...

Tomatoes are still alive outside. I tossed a few tomato plants in the compost, since they were so thin stemmed and I needed to tidy up the windowsill a bit to make more room for the chilis. They are now in one quart pots, and have started to produce fruit. I can't fit larger pots on the windowsill, and it's too cold to move chilis outside. So they might just get to produce their crop in those. I still have 7 tomato plants that need to go outside, but I need to get more of the pots for that. The we will have 12 tomato plants total, I think we might be drowning in tomatoes if this goes well.

This is what I did to my thumb while making the table.

Not the prettiest stitching, but as they fitted me in between patients with appointments, I'm satisfied. It should heal nicely.

This is how the chilis are looking at the moment. The two week forecast says it should get warmer at the end of the month, then I can consider moving these guys outside. Right now I'm getting them used to slightly colder weather by keeping the door open and letting fresh air in.
