Dixie Chicks

Quickly built a brooder. Now to decide which fixture to bring into the house.

Not sure if the one that hold the normal light is OK to use with the heat bulb...
400
generally they have a sticker on them or print somewjere that says what the maximum safe wattage is to use.

Yay, DH will help me put that dowel in the ceiling so we can hang the heat light tonight. I gave them a small dish of water and food. The water is more welcome for play then the food at this point. Children!

Haha Alaskan you are funny, but any parent night react that way.
Truth be told I bought those totes with the thought of cutting them up. My next set of quail will be housed in them. Once the lid goes on, they'll get light from the front and the qua can't just jump out. :)

Cool idea, but I imagine hard to clean as well....

My 4 ducklings made it through their first night in the brooder.

They were chirping away most of the time. They spent most of the time under the heat light but not huddled together.

The 3 remaining eggs: no change, day 30.

I turned the heat off to snap some quick pictures of the ducklings!! I am going to have a really hard time putting them outside!

@minihorse927 I mentioned to the "egg seller" that 2 were all yellow and she's willing to replace "the 2 white ones" with 2 more eggs! I did NOT expect that. I'd pick them up when driving by her farm in BC next week and at that point why not get extra?

Also, I am considering getting more of her eggs.. haha!!
