Sorry about the almost drowned girl



Just last week one of my baby sister's chickens fell into the water trough for the horses...

By the time they found her... She had found something in there to stand on, and with stretching out was managing to just barely keep her nose above the water line... BARELY

She took her out and put her on the ground... And the poor hen started going into convulsions... So she brought her into the house, and used the blow drier to get her mostly dry, and warmed up..... And then she was fine.


Wow! Sturdy chicken!

I think the convulsions were because she was overly chilled.

I think the convulsions were because she was overly chilled.

I got her warmed up by wrapping her up in a towel and washing her twice in warm water. I was afraid she was so close to shock that throwing a blow drier on top of that stress would make her give up. After she startd opening her eyes and talking to me I gave her an actual soap and water bath and then blew her mostly dry. She's sleeping in a laundry basket with a towel to snuggle in.
