Dixie Chicks

I been wondering if my brown leghorn is going to start laying soon.. pretty darn sure it's a hen lol hasnt developed any hackles or saddle feathers... I had thought it was going to be a cockerel because the face n comb pinked pretty fast......
how old?

She's got amazing color and pattern is so clean and crisp... gorgeous! :)

Hope it's a hen! I'm still waiting for my oldest Araucana pullet to start laying, he sister/cousin a month younger has been laying for 2 months... :/

Processing a turkey is prolly just like chicken, only bigger, lol... royals are breedable, seen some egg auctions for 'em...

Morning! Been busy with work and midsummer celebration, so I haven't evennlogged on to byc in almost a week.

Jem, bunnies are great, growing nicely. We haven't had any issues with separating them.

Sad news on the chicken front though. Emma, our Sussex, started limping a bit over a week ago. We separated her from the flock, but she just kept getting worse, she had to support herself with her wings. On Friday it had gotten so bad that she could barely stand up, so we didn't have the heart to see her suffer any longer.

The chicks are looking better each day, one of them got her neck pecked open though. It seems to be healing nicely, we just cleaned it once.

Aww, sorry about Emma, Felix... at least she isn't suffering anymore... we had to put down a young Silkie yesterday cuz of severe slipped hock, there was no fixing it... :hugs
Glad the pecked neck wasn't worse, know ya don't want another Flappy in the house, lol...
