Dixie Chicks

Witnessed the culprits, neighbors dogs... 2 of them, a bird dog and a mixed large breed... neighbor is Jim's cousin too...

Their dogs got out, tore fence down and had a slaughter spree...

That's terrible, so sorry.
We had a case here where a woman's dogs went missing and a month
later where found dead , shot. The chief suspect at the time was a guy who threatened to kill them for killing his daughters chickens, he denied doing it. You should have heard the comments online on the local paper article on it. Terrible comments, chickens are not pets and not worth anything to some people I guess.
It was found that someone else shot them, guy said he witnessed the pair of huskies chasing deer many times, and it was already a hard winter for the deer. You should have heard the comments on that!
According to the DEC website the greatest threat to wildlife, and biggest killer are domesticated dogs and cats.
In the first newspaper article the woman that lost her dogs said "I let them out in the morning and when I noticed that afternoon that they didn't return I knew something was wrong"
Huh! Just let them run all day? A pair of huskies!
Dog owners should be more responsible for their animal's. I wouldn't have been able to have shot anyone's dogs, but I think either one of those men had the right to.
The shooter did do some jail time, and there was outcry over that, the owner and her followers around the world were pushing for five to ten or wanting him to hang or something.

:hugs neighbors should pay for dead birds.

Oh no.. well I hope the family member pays up, hopefully he's easy to deal with. :hugs

The sad thing is once pray drive takes over, dogs rarely listen, unless the well trained kind

Jen....so very sorry to hear you've lost birds. :(

I'm very sorry.  :(

Thank you, everyone... unfortunately his cousin (or rather his cousin's wife) is not easy to deal with... they are trying to deflect blame and there was absolutely no offer of recompense, help cleaning up dead birds or looking for the missing ones... going the legal route as this will be an ugly, messy, horrible situation...

@NotAFarm we lost Ameraucanas, Sulmtalers, Cream Legbars, and OEGB hens...

15 total dead bodies found so far, at least that many more still missing...

Good note, duck was hiding somewhere and came out safe and sound...
