I had a Lab awhile ago that when he got lose would catch my chickens and bring them to me, bad dog!
First time he did it I thought my RIR roo was dead, it was screaming bloody murder. When I caught up to the dog he had it in his mouth, looked dead, he dropped it rooster stood up dumbfounded, not a feather was harmed. Lol bad dog!

we lost Ameraucanas, Sulmtalers, Cream Legbars, and OEGB hens... the OEGB's cannot be replaced...

I would have no problem reporting family in a case like that. If they can't respect you, and do not care about the money and time put into your birds. Full grown chickens are valued at a hundred $ each in my book and that's for regular layers not rare breeders.
