Dixie Chicks

Oh the shrimpy RC black Leghorn rooster has legs that have almost zero yellow, and a large amount of black on them.

LEGHORNS ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE YELLOW LEGS!!! Yellow!

White Jersey giants are supposed to have willow legs, and are not supposed to be white as chicks. With the ones that died and weeding out all the wrong ones I have five out of twelve to work with. The nonconformists will be banished to the silkies pen Lol :)

They poop a lot!

The black ones and the blue ones start out with white breasts. I don't know what color you ended up with. I would say you could post them on the JG page and see what the seasoned people think.

You may have better luck with eggs. Cheap enough that you could get an incubator for the savings. Problem is what to do with the males.

Mini... You have excellent vision!! The one tiny micro fleck of color that I cam see on the back of that chick sure is small.

But, you said that he countsas paint... Didn't you ant paint? Or are you bummed that he is a cockerel? (Or has SUCH super tiny colord spots? :idunno

The kids and I moved chicks around

:th

I got rid of my old RC Dark Brown Leghorn rooster....since I knew that he wasn't homo for RC... And since I knew I didn't want to hatch anymore Leghorns this year.....

He was very pretty.... Yellow legs, but not bright yellow, but not bad..... Really good body, really good color, good tail set, decent comb.......

So..... What do have in my bunch of growing out leghorns ONE, I HAVE ONE RC Dark Brown Leghorn cockerel to choose from to use as my breeder next season ONE

His legs are not even really yellow.... He is really too young to see much except that his comb is HORRID! Like poop level bad. It almost looks like it is two sections in front that then join together. Not old enough to comment on body or tail or stance etc. Color is probably good..... But :barnie

Kid #2 said "but look, this one has a good comb!" I replied "Yes son, that is a very nice rose comb, but that is a BLACK leghorn!!" :barnie (also, it was a bit shrimpy for awhile, so not the kind of genetics I want to promote..... Remember I got lots of random free leghorn whatevers in my order or rose comb whites and dark browns. )
I'm bummed because I think it's a cockerel, it's a paint, AND it's not what I wanted. I wanted chocolate and mauve colored chick's that will lay green eggs!

@seminolewind The white giants are smoky grey and can have dark heads as chicks, they turn white when they get their adult feathers.

Ohh and those pics are actually the ones IMO look good, I didn't have the non hackers, three of them , in the pics.

@Outpost JWB They're supposed to all be black and blue copper maranas, but roo and 2 or 3 are really good coppers, have some blacks, 1 or 2 blues and 1 that has too much color spread through the body... 2 good black coppers lay really dark, half lay lighter, but the others are getting darker... these were my first bcm's and haven't worked with them yet... they lay really well, near every day...

Oh, and yay for the broody... sorry for the moving...

@Alaskan :hugs bummer. How old are they now?

One of the Isabel split Rose comb Leghorn boys I have has a horrible comb, I won't be keeping him either

They are getting close to three months old....

Which is why I can't tell much of anything except for super general body color, the comb, and the legs. :idunno

I need to take photos...

Show you the crazy bad comb, and I also need you, oh super wise one, to tell me what color my fancy Marans is... I am thinking Lavendar but I really don't know. It looks good though, I like the body shape and color etc.... My growing out Marans are just two months.

I wonder if I have the time etc...... To go through the pain that @Beer can did.... But I would buy through Urch...... I tried one year, but he sent me my money back, couldn't fill the order.

Yup, that bites the big hairies... :(

I finally counted my Marans... still in mixed flocks... 10 flockin' pullets and 1 roo... had 2 roos, sold one cuz too many roos...

Since it's looking more and more like I'm gonna sell them then of course they're my biggest group of pure hens... :/

Don't sell.... You can make money selling Marans... At least up here lots of people want them.

@Alaskan
that bites.. :hugs more reason to incubate more. I don't know

Geez, I wish I had hatches like that, 1 drake to 5 girls...

My last duck hatch... 10 ducklings, only three clear girls
