Dixie Chicks

Looks like warts Alaskan??? Don't know, just reminds me of warts...
And, no, broody not isolated, chicks have a two foot drop if they hatch, should I be concerned? I'ts soft deep litter? Should I candle, if she gets off the nest of course, might not happen, I've seen her off twice in the last two weeks.
I have a hen who constantly sits in the hay loft. Chick's drop 8 feet onto the barn floor every stinking time they hatch cause she always manages to hatch them and take them out while I'm gone or she hides the nest so far back I can't get to the nest due to the loft being full of hay. Whenever she does this I leave a thick bed of loose hay on the barn floor and so far she hasn't killed a chick yet doing it.

Hummmmm

Dunno. I can't remember if it is hard or soft. I guess I will see if I can soak and clean her feet tomorrow and get a better look. It is just all kinds of odd.

Beer can yep... That can be a problem.. A chick can fall out, en mom stays on nest with the other chicks, and the one that fell put gets too cold and dies, or other chickens eat it.

You need to either tack up a wire wall so that she is stuck in the nest box (any way to make it a double sized box so that she has food and water in front of her?) or take her out now and lock her into a dog crate like thing.

WHAT A DAY!

1. Lost 4 pullets today. Well, I guess technically yesterday. Someone needs to know that we have chickens. Not ducks. We are at our limit for the rain! The pullets were all in a corner trampled

-soaked because it rained hard last night, again. They all run to the only corner that has a mini pond in it and huddle together.

2. I was gathering garbage up and put it out front this morning----- even though our garbage day is tomorrow. Well, a garbage man from another company came by and took our garbage...???? LOL! I thought that was funny and random.

3. Had lunch with friend

Luckily no one was really hurt. Their car didn't fair well. My suv has injuries though.

5. Got a new Countryline Log Splitter.

We took your advice @minihorse927 . It's a monster! TSC is one of the only stores that has them in stock around here at this time of year. I do not want to be cutting firewood with snow caked on it, in 20degree weather.

Now I am wiped out! Boss text me and asked me to come in early tomorrow

, so I'd better finish my beer and get some sleep. Have a great night.
sorry about your day. How did you lose 4 pullets?

Alaskan, think I'll transfer her to a dog crate, I have a big one, or fence her off, coop is big enough to, decide tomorrow....
Mini, Lol! hay loft! Dad had a broody Japanese black bantam he used to hatch out his RIRs disappear every year into the woods and come back with her own chicks for many yrs, just up and disappear for a few weeks. She hatched out many yrs of RIRs, he never had a incubator. That little crow would hatch 18 chicks or more at a time. He put wild turkey eggs under her once after she already hatched out a brood and she sat and hatched them too! She after yrs disappeared permanently, think a fox got her...

Why are you amazed at the ducks @Alaskan?

Just set 104 coturnix quail. Planning on selling most of the chick's to help recoup some money to pay for my tire debt.
