any one made homemade sourcrout....

One thing to do with the canned stuff is give it a light rinse and cook it with Apples The apples mitigate the tang and gives the crout an intersting taste.

nother thing on my list.... crout making

I don't like rhubarb either.

Do you like sauerkraut?

Yes, to some degree.  I like it on hot dogs, and some sausage sandwiches.  I also take a large casserole dish, and put a nice layer of potatoes on the bottom, sprinkle some chopped onions on them, then a layer of sauerkraut on top of that, then sliced smoked sausage on top of that.  Put a little water in it, then cover it, and bake it in the oven.  It's actually very good, even if you don't like sauerkraut.

Dang, that sounds like sauerkraut love to me!

Don't worry, you may have my portion. ;)

Oh... We are getting a big one, in milk, first week in march, with a weather companion, that we will eat once he is grown.

In the summer we are getting two mini Saanens which better grow up to be the milk factories that their reputation promisses, since they will be babies when we get them, and I will have to shell out feed for over a year before I get any return. Luckily, I don't have to lift a finger... Just direct, and bleed money.

We have never had rhubarb. Are the leaves poisonous?

Yes, but they say you have to eat a wheelbarrow full of leaves to kill you. Never have seen chickens peck them. Super easy to grow, need nothing, not even fertilizer or weeding. Plant once and they'll last a lifetime.

Rhubarb upside down cake, wife makes it I'd have to ask her. Pretty sure she makes it the same as pineapple upside down cake.
What I THINK she does is use boxed yellow cake mix. Layer of brown sugar and butter in the pan first, add cake batter add precooked (just done not mush) chunks of rhubarb, and some of the juice from cooking. Rhubarb chunks sink to bottom which is the top when flipped.
I don't know the specifics, think she just follows pineapple recipe.
I do know it's yummy!

Supposedly you can make a natural pesticide with rhubarb leaves. I tried, didn't seem to to work. I can't remember what the poisen is... I have oxalic acid in my head but I think that's wrong.

Goat is one of those things I don't think I could eat, just not ones I raised. Too much personality... Like a number of the animals I do eat. I know I'm weird.

Don't you just hate the last egg? Come on hatch! Are you dead? Alive? Need help? Get out of there bird!!!
