There are lots of zone two fruit trees available , cross's that have been introduced .I've had pear trees here ( rabbits killed them by gnawing off the bark at the base ) , apple trees , cherries  raspberries , etc .....peach trees have sparked a interest but I've never actually bought any . You need to look at the Canadian prairie provinces  , Saskatchewan , Manitoba  which offer low zone fruit trees

That's where my awesome apple trees were originally developed, Saskatchewan.

If you like that sort of thing, go online and look up tannerite. It's legal, and if you get ups delivery, they'll bring it right to your door. More fun than you can shake a stick at!!!

JWB, you sure you're not breaking the cane that's about to produce? I've understood that they grow the cane the first year, then produce berries on it the second year. So you should only break canes that have already given harvest, otherwise you're not allowing the bush to produce. I don't do anything to our raspberries, and they make berries fine. I might have to start limiting their growth a bit this summer though, they were already looking a bit wild last year.

...can also sometimes produce fall then spring next year...depending on growth and from sound of it if it's producing a bit then you break them off might be the case...

OMG... Do not -- repeat DO NOT -- tell my DH that dynamite is a gardening tool. I'd like a harvest, not smithereens.

Out here we have what's billed as the largest machine gun shoot in the country twice a year. It's only a mile away as the crow flies from me.
They start the afternoon event by setting off by setting off a charge of 200-300 lbs of tannerite.
It's quite the spectical!

U of Sasktoon has been instrumental in recent years with developing some purdy kewl kinda plants for the Prairies.

Shelterbelt program...if you had a large acreage, forget the number but we never qualified with our five, the government would have you pay like under thirty bucks and you could order in oodles of trees like Lilac, Caragana, Spruce, Pine, Willow, Poplar, wild roses, think there was the Siberian Crabapple too (still tiny the ones we have) and there were fruits like chokecherry, sea buckthorn, elder, silver buffaloberry, even a cherry, Cherry Princepia.

HyBlade, our red ACDog helped me plant, he'd sneak in and pull a stick while I was busy going down the rows, give it a chew...bad boy! Obviously despite the DOGS, we have a respectable SHELTERBELT

I tend to feel OLDer than my years when I start to lookit the trees and shrubs I planted as sticks and plugs and now they tower...it is a good plan to plant ASAP when you get your land but funny how having all that fun and then you blink and the trees are old... I'm not old, not old for a tree...oh yeh, I guess I am!

We have Ure pear; it flowers, looks nice, that be that here. Pembina plum too.

June 22, 2014 - New Orchard​

We bought alot of our fruit trees when Mrs. Sprout up past Edmonton retired. Now we visited there and oh my, what a place indeed. She had birds which was pretty kewl, wandering about her orchards. Her area is far enough North and away from the Rockies, they don't get Chinooks...so they have good orchards. We on the other hand, even with choosing types for 1A and 1B...few zone 2's, still kinda suck but the shrubs like lilac are a force to recon with.

Outta Montreal. Just a Net search, not a recommendation...there are tons that will happily sell you trees and plants. My poor memory forgets but I bought a whole mess of roses mail order from out East...chose the most smelly ones...all are doing quite fine.

June 9, 2015 - Mt Ash flowering ​

They are the ones that shipped us the two tiny Mountain Ash or Rowan berry that now TOWER over the Waterfall.

Got Saskatoons from the Saskatoon Farm (duh!) and all sorts of plants, tress and shrubs. Never gone there ... guess I am a tad SCARED because doing a mail order is much more controlled and strict than being there in the flesh!

Aug 2014 - New Orchard pre-mowing--lookin' JUNGLEish

No going to nursery's, it'd kill...gotta have one of these, two of those, a whole FLOCK of them...yeh...better not go visit Saskatoon Farm...they even have a restaurant where they serve up PIE...and anyone that knows me, knows I work like crazy jest for that excuse of "an extra slice of pie!"


I believe we have filled up our five acres and had one lady give me a nice Elm and I was at a loss of where to put it. Got enough trees, thanks...I do have intentions for some blackberries and a new raspberry bed...but really truly have to consider where I can squeeze them in.

July 10 2014 - I now KNOW I have two different kinds of Honeyberries...

Haskaps, had those for years and buying some goji seeds this year, see how those do with them supposedly being OK with -20C even though we're more a -40C and 50 place.

Wen it GREENS up here, it really does...and when it WHITES up, it really does. Never moderate, or mild climate wise...extreme but the extremes ensure winter kills any real nasties and when it's summer, you don't laze around whining...you get on it or you'll blink and wonder where it all went. By the time the snows fly, we are so tired of outside summer crap...we are thrilled to welcome the change of seasons.

Sea buckthorn is pretty interesting, jam packed with vitamin C. And sour as heck, but great with creme brulee or pannacotta.
