@BBQJOE
I wouldn't have minded so much if I'd known. I don't know how big there's was, it was a couple hundred yrds from where I was standing and it felt like it was feet from me. I was in shock, expecting to see someone with a shotgun pointed at me, thought I was dead.
They shoot a lot, doesn't bother me. Surprise massive explosions, wow not funny.
Now I need to pick some of that stuff up.
And I thought my 10gauge blanks were loud...
I kid you NOT

I on occasion get complaints about my renter playing music and shooting guns.

Last time someone called and complained about the shooting, I asked "was he aiming at you while he was shooting?" "No" " then, I don't see the problem" no complaints since. :)

It is illegal for me to harvest seaweed.

really why?

The seaweed has little bugs in it, the bugs are eaten by shorebirds... MUST SAVE BIRDS :tongue

I am a tree hugger, but I am also a rabid libertarian, and in this case, I think the huggers are a bit too rabid.

JWB, you sure you're not breaking the cane that's about to produce? I've understood that they grow the cane the first year, then produce berries on it the second year. So you should only break canes that have already given harvest, otherwise you're not allowing the bush to produce. I don't do anything to our raspberries, and they make berries fine. I might have to start limiting their growth a bit this summer though, they were already looking a bit wild last year.

Yes, you're correct.....I just remove the dead cane. It would be the 3rd year for the dead one. I put T stakes at each end then ran string and tied the canes up. Mine don't grown very tall though. Maybe waist high.

ya I get that but sheesh you'd think at least partial harvesting would be allowed.. we can do up to 10 pounds a day here and have to harvest if specifically....and it has to be wet seaweed no dried seaweed...and for commercial purposes more then 10 pounds it's a special license... y'all usually have such practical harvesting of natural resources for food n such for familys there surprises me they don't allow it at all......

navigating the hunting fishing ect stuff here is like you need a college degree just to understand the table of contents... there is someplace that does a wild harvesting class of the pnw I been looking at wanting to check out just figuring out exactly where it is and who is a bit of a challenge so far... and a mushroom seminar with the mushroom dude south of me....... some pretty kewl stuff.....

and the seaweed as a different food source for the chickens as well....

then we have the nori there is lotsa edible seaweed here...

was thinking about maybe processing some natural sea salt from the seaweed and just few idea's rumbling in my head..
