Dixie Chicks

If I feed mackerel to the girls as a snackie, Pat will lay an egg the next day. (She's my worst layer, but lays the prettiest dark olive eggs and she's got the best personality)

Sometimes we cater to a hen's particular favorite foods tastes...

TeJae = ricotta cheese
Oops = blueberries
EB and ET = fresh corn on the cob
Pat = mackerel
Zelda = bread
Annie = meal worms
Leza = chopped kale salad

Oh, yeah, they're spoiled. They don't have to do much but lay to help pay for their upkeep.... They'll never pay off their house, but at least they can contribute to rent.

does anyone compost with their chickens? I've been thinking of setting up another compost ben out of pallets n leaving it open in the semi free range chicken area so they can scratch n pick thru the pile?

soo I am having TOTAL goat envy and was hunting around for supplies for my mushroom garden yesterday and ran across this Goat lawn ornament for the garden yesterday at home depot..........I thought wow kewl I can have a goat of my own... inquired about price and gosh they wanted 60 bucks for it!
 
I USED TO RAISE RING NECK DOVES ABOUT 50 YEARS AGO. the MOTHERS HATCHED THEM AND FED THEM,BY REGURATIGING FOOD..HEY they SURE ARE UGLY WHEN LITTLE...Please forgive my post,im sicker than a dog this morning.
. Thank you the ink is my great grand fahers tomstone from the civil war,Capt W S Pitts co 3rd battalion company f.He was at getysburg and most of the rest of the southern battles,but he really was a school teacher.
 
this poor plum tree I am so at a loss for it...bad wind storm tumped it over not sure if I will somehow give it support and pull it back or remove and plant something else......




walked into the greenhouse and it smelled like a coffee house... must have something to do with the bags n bags of coffee grounds in it atm lol coffee anyone?

good morning :) my brother raised doves for awhile... sorry to hear your under the weather hope you feel better soon....thats interesting about your family did you research it was it something commonly known in the family or?
