Dixie Chicks

this just happen?

No , two years ago , was returning home from the city and I was already trying to avoid the busy streets as it was noon hour and the traffic goes nuts ..........case in point is that here if you hit someone from behind regardless of the situation it's your fault , unless you want to battle it out ? in which case it costs you even more . Dash Cam's capture the incidents best , thus avoiding a costly court ordeal ! My nighbours wife a few years ago was turning left off the highway onto our road , everyone was stopped except for one idiot who just passed all the vehicles and as she turned he t-boned her ...........they said it was her fault ?? They are not lacking in money so they fought it , but the judge still ruled it was 50% her fault even though she had done nothing wrong other then turning off the highway ..................sometimes you just want to choke someone !

@Cold Canadian Yeah, that clearly wasn't your fault, although in that case you weren't following the other car, so I say my statement still holds true. Although personally, I tend to slow down a bit if the other lane is slowing down. I get super nervous driving next to another lane when the speed difference gets beyond 20-30 kph.

Al, sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope you don't lose any more of the chicks.

@ApiaryandAviary Whoa, that was from long ago. You must really be far behind =P

I was slowing down , my lane had gotten the red light , her lane had a car turning left off the main road , she just didn't want to wait , lurched into my lane with about two car length's of space ony tto having to slam her breaks on which is why she was parked so oddly in front of me ......I was all good till she took the space from me , I was below speed limit due to icy road conditions .......completely her fault , I wish someone would have stopped and backed me up , that would have changed the whole scenario , I even posted a ad hoping someone would come forward , but in the end she won ?

Whoa, I suppose people do have those dashcams for a reason... I would happily admit fault in that case (if I was the person actually at fault), because I have decent insurance and I don't screw up often enough for a one time accident to have any effect on the price of our premiums.

Karin caught Coco haystashing yesterday, so she's gonna give birth soon too. We will have about 25-30 kits born within 4 weeks of each other. I might have to go freezer shopping soon...

@Outpost JWB, to ship one chick's you're going to have to wait a minimum of 8 weeks...that way it's fully feathered and able to stay warm.

Spring has sprung here. I have a good blueberry crop coming on I need to cover before the chickens get them all. Black Broody (unproven mom that is half English Orp and half blue egg layer.) is still determined, sitting on a friends' barnyard eggs...nine days to hatch day. I have six of the same source eggs in the brinsea can I put any that hatch with the hen's?). The eggs were pretty muddy so I don't know of any in the brinsea will hatch, I haven't checked them. I surely miss having a roo...and the "right" to have one.

There is a pair of cardinals that wait each morning to peck scratch with the chickens...the dull female stays back, but the brilliantly red male will hop in and between the chickens and they seem to tolerate him. Today, I saw the female red bird feeding a smaller red male...I think she's showing him where the scratch is thrown each day. When I went outside with my dog later there were deafening cheeps of disapproval (parent red birds teaching their young to avoid the dog, I think).

The yellow climbing roses are a riot of color over the netting on the grow-out pen, and the sprays of tiny wild roses smell heavenly. I did not know they were so fragrant.

There is a three lined skink on my window sill by the computer.

Discovering these little things made this day a delight.

edited to correct SLW to blue egg layer.

Mahen100, you can try slipping the bator chicks under her as they hatch (and hers are hatching)... a lot of broodys will take them without skipping a beat, but watch her cuz some don't...

Sounds pretty over there...

In the case of the US. never admit fault. Express concern exchange info but in conversation never say "Oh it was so my fault"... or something similar. Because This is a Litigeous society. They could take those words and run with it to their lawyers...

For instance. I was driving sixty miles to and from work. It had been about six months on the new job and I was getting road weary. I nodded off just for a second in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic once I got to the city. And Bounced off a little lanscaping truck with a bumper hitch in front of me. It pushed in the nose of my llittle Geo Metro car... We both pulled over....

His wife was in the car and Oh he was mad.... He started to chew me out asking me what happend ..... I said "I dont know" and truely I didnt know. But then I said "Is that your wife .... Is she OK.... I was digging up my insurance info and a piece of paper to write it all down. His bumper was turned down a little. a Dock bumper so Iknew it was a matter of loosening the bolts and repositioning it. Soon as he saw the insurance info and I wasnt denying resposibility I just didnt admit to it. He settled down.

I called my insurance company right away and to my knowledge they never sumbitted a repair claim. Which saved me a mark on my insurance.

Al, so glad they reimbursed you, but it's still a shame about the loss. Are you still going to be able to get the flavors, er, breeds you were wanting?
