@deb...it is a 100 gallon rigid sided Lowes water feature...with a short water fall and lined water course a couple of feet or less long...and a "bog" 5 gallon rigid plant dish and then back to the 100 gal. pond. IF I have a pic it is old by a few years.

Hope your "out with the old job, in with the new" goes well, JWB.

I had a live trapped raccoon in the trap near my coop when I let the chickens out this am. Something had gotten one of four chicks my big English Orp hen was raising when I was 15 minutes late closing the coop last week. I set the live trap and eggs as bait disappeared from it three days in a row, but the trap was never sprung. (I did catch about four different chickens who seemed to rush in the trap soon as I set it at dusk before they went into the coop to roost). I finally decided I was tired of feeding the predator, and I started setting it empty of bait after the coop was closed up. Finally...after a week, I had a young adult female coon caught this am. From the looks of her, she'd recently nursed young.

Has anyone ever noticed raccoons tend to drown in submerged cages?????? My killed baby chick is avenged. :/

We caught the cutest opossum in a live trap. I couldnt let Bama kll it. He put up a craigslist ad in the free section. 5 hours later it was rehomed. The lady said she was going to try to tame it. Then we noticed her sweet potatoes, onions, herbs, and canned biscuits in the trunk of her car.

Put up a craigslist ad in the free section. See what happens. I bet someone will come get it

OMgosh! Make my day! :lau

Hey...thanks to Bama! I didn't think of putting the critter to sleep. And there are big (empty) storage containers on my patio that I thought I would put all the junk lying around out there into. You know how that goes. Maybe I could just put the live trap inside the twenty year old car, and stuff a potato up the exhaust pipe. Turn the motor on and take a long nap inside the house. ;)

That will not work. A car will not work with obstruction of exhause.
You could get a 6 foot section of 3/4" or larger diameter hose. Put it in the tail pipe and duct tape it snug with no leaks.
Run that hose under the lid of the storage container that contains the trapped coon.
Start your car.
The ice cold beer is more of a timer. By the time you finish your beer...the problem will be solved

100 gallon is pleanty for a single Koi..... its Beautiful. rule of thumb 1 gallon per inch of fish.... so if the combined length of both your fish is say twelve inches..... theroetically twelve gallons would do.... I wouldnt do more than two or three big koi though. because the bigger the fish the more swimming room.

The trick to good water also is surface area Koi and goldfish and carp in general are good at grabbing oxygenated water from the surface so low oxygen doesnt stress too much. but you have the perfect environment.... water fall and what looks to be a fountain all create more surface area for Co2 to migrate out of the water.

Start my new job today! Last day of old job went good. No tears. Amicable departure.

I am so sick of raccoons and opossum. I can't believe someone would take a free one. I guess the key word is free.....? Should include free rabies with that post.:idunno

You all have a good day!
