Well, the nap didn't work for me either.....I went out to check for eggs & let the girls out to free range and
WE GOT 38 EGGS TODAY!!!!!
That's a record for us!
7 of them are GREEN!!!![]()
We have 40 hens. They must've had some sort of meeting or heard me talking about butcher day (for the roos). But after getting all excited about the eggs, I couldn't find our little dog! So, I walked (quickly) down the street both ways yelling my head off for him. No doggie. After about 1/2 hour of walking back and forth and screaming my head off, I went back to the coop. Poor doggie was standing right by the coop with mud caked 1/2 way up his legs. He had went into the coop looking for me & it's impossible to hear anything back there over all the chickens. But I am SO glad he is OK![]()

thanks it went well..and was soo lovely warm too...Jem, hope everything went well at the hospital.
Sam, my run has about a square foot per bird. The coop has four 10cm/4" round vents, two down low for air intake, two at the highest point to let air out. And the pop door stays open pretty much all the time, it's about a square foot.
arg for the dog panic. Silly thing!
YEAH!for lots of eggs....![]()
We all know I think that V doesn't have enough venting...
but, here I am, all crazy about venting, and I have, at a guess ... ok, I calculated
I have 7,008 square inches of vents, that is 584 square feet, right?
is that right?
Well, I don't have 500 chickens, so I am good.except that there is no way I did that math correctly....![]()
is it only 48.7 square feet of vent??
that would be about 1 foot per chicken... I think, not sure, but it sounds good.
