Dixie Chicks

Okay, just started building my insulated waterer. I took a 3L bucket and a 8L bucket, glued some space blanket to the bottom of the smaller one, and then taped some more space blanket around it. Then I glued it to the inside of the larger bucket. Once the glue has dried, I'm going to pack some rock wool inside plastic to make it water tight and put that around the empty space in there, and then cut out a round piece of polyurethane insulation to go on the top. I might make a hole in that though and make a funnel out of a soda bottle that sits there for easy filling. Not sure about that yet, because then I can't look into the thing that easily. But I hope this turns out well.

I was working a bit under the radar because Karin was in a "No messes allowed" mode... but this is how it looks while the glue is drying:

And the inner bucket has one layer of space blanket on the bottom, with glue on both sides, and it's wrapped in a couple of layers of space blanket. The silver side reflects heat back inside, and the gold side inwards reflects heat out so depending on if it's hot or cold these can be used to maintain body temperature in emergencies.

Right now the bucket is filled with water to keep pressure on the glue, I want it to preferably be as thin as possible.

Then I'm just going to drill holes for the nipples in the bottom and put the insulation on all sides and put the heater cable in there.

By the way Sambo, your avatar is very elegant. You look like a proper lady. Doesn't fool me though...

Okay, just ordered some cheapo nipples from China. I bought 20 nipples from 4 different vendors, 5 in each order for a total of about 6 euros. Now they get to race to Finland. I like buying this way because you increase the possibility of a quick delivery.

@vehve nice cover up! I am on Karin's side.. my dh is on a no mess allowed time out too. He just finished building a big water cooled computer. The mess he made just made we want to sleep in the coop. Thankfully he contained it to the attic for most of the time.
