Hennible, sounds like your Text-to-Speech knows you really well, lol...

Yes, BC, I do hope to sell some of my birds, working on my breeding groups now...

Amberjem, very glad you got some sleep finally! And I agree too, she does look like a pullet, her body looks just like my black Am pullets.

And thank you everyone else for the welcome...
Crud, my train got derailed and am now lost on who is who and what is going on, lol!

Yep and mine free range without a schedule so it's tricky there too. I'm switching to a tote feeder that will hold a 50 lb bag instead of the two bucket feeders that leave me with an 1/8 of a bag leftover each time which drives me crazy by the way.

I won't need to store open bags this way and top off the feeder that often. Hopefully, this way I will remember how often I fill it. (yeah sure I will)

ya with the weather or eagles flying over mine free range at random also

That's the Ameraucana to blame, lol... They are hard to tell and I kept changing my mind on them... finally figured out I got lucky with them and 4 outta 5 were pullets... try looking under the top feathers where the saddle feathers would be, if it is a Roo, then should have some starting to come in by now...

Haha, if my Chanteclers (getting a rooster in summer) ever "work" out kids it'll be hard to tell them apart by the comb as the roosters don't have much for combs or wattles. That'll be fun!

At least they'll have quite different feathers as adults or whenever roosters get their rooster coloured feathers...

If in doubt open up everything first thing in the morning, if it is below -10F and goning to drop further at night, close it mostly up(never completely close up a coop) at noonish, or whenever you get home.
I open the man door every morning unless it is a windy downpour or freezing cold and leave it open until about 4-5pm. There is a middle window open partially all the time (away from birds)and DH just cut out the vent door at the roof line this week. It hasn't gotten to be winter here yet well today it did.
oh... if you can smell the ammonia, it can't be all that cold.... open all of the vents.
Yeah only on warmer humid days does it smell and I am looking for the magic % to shoot for to keep them from getting wet and sick. I know they can handle the cold if it ever shows up. LOL
