Dixie Chicks

We have a dairy farm, old German couple who make Tilsit cheese, a semi hard washed rind aged cheese. They have it in plain, caraway, dill, jalapeño,hops, beer, basil+tomato, rosemary, and I haven't tried these two yet; black tea, or lavender. They also have a guy that comes in once a week and makes those mozzarella cheese balls, mmm good.
Favorite beer, homebrew stout or pale ale, second favorite, whatever's CHEAP, right now Labatt ice at .99cents a 24oz can. That $3 a six pack!

Oh Yum you made me think of habenaro Havarti!

Bring the crew inside, it's cold out anyway!

Ha! Not that cold here BC... Punky would have a bird if I let the adults in the house for anything short of medical treatment... Actually it's always a hoot when I have to bring a chicken inside they cant walk on the slippery floor... It's like chicken Ice Capades

Alaskan probably has it warmer then we do... it's not that difficult to be warmer then here today.

Broody was off her eggs again when I got home last night. Glad I checked and put her back in the right spot. She doesn't seem to mind being moved. She was up to 6 eggs instead of her 4!

Now the lid is on with much less of a gap, hopefully that helps. Don't think hubby would let me bring her into the house.

In other news I have adopted @Alaskan 's method of not knowing how many chickens there are. We started with 6...

Good stuff ( use ALs method ) yesterday when asked how many chickens I had I said 40 something and got the big crazy chicken people eyeballs looking at me... I think I will have to be more vague... Some chickens, a few chickens, a nice flock, a bunch of chickens....no numbers

We did some fermented scratch stuff they liked pretty good, and kept it in the shed!

I have a large mason jar on my kitchen counter, the chickens get a couple cups every now and then. The house is way too small to keep large pails anywhere in the house plus it would freeze the moment the chickens have any left overs. I guess FF is a summer thing here.
Hubby doesn't know it yet but I have plans for a section of "his" garage when we built our house!!

Red wine, a nice merlot or the Folie a Deux "Menage a Trois" blend

White wine, voignier or pinot gris.

Beer, amber (Rogue's Dead Guy, Bold Tail Ale or Red Nectar)....but prefer hard cider

Hard stuff, rum or bourbon (winter = time for the ambers!)

Cheese, pretty much all EXCEPT Limburger and funky ones. Love a nice soft mozzarella with tomato and basil, triple crème brie w/crackers. Grilled cheese sandwiches with Gruyere, jarlsberg, cheddar or mozzarella...a blend, if possible. Bleu cheese or chevre nearly nightly in salads.

Okay. It's still my first cup of coffee and already I want dinner....

Punky's away; right? Let the chickens in! I'm sure a little chicken poop is easier to clean up....and the ff won't go to waste.

(sez she who had chickens as guests in the back bedroom for far too long)

lol! It still doesn't feel like winter here. It's 63 now.

When it's warm enough I keep the whole process out in the coop. Much nicer but it is dang cold so it won't ferment got to bring it in... Sigh... Come on spring! :barnie
About three more months until it starts melting, but May is when in will stop freezing... Oh I may cry that's a ways away...

Lol! I have... A few chickens... Inside already... The bigger guys have been inside for a month and will be in for at least another month... Next year the coop will be set up with an amazing brooder pen so I can hatch out little babies in the Winter still, but not have to clean up poop and sand in my spare room when they jump out of the brooder... Yes the brooder has a lid but I occasionally forget to close it.:D
Any way I cleaned it up already... Now it's starting to overflow again... agh!
