Dixie Chicks

We took the lights off the spruce outside on Friday to beat the cruddy weather we are having now and will have through the next week. I'll be "collecting" things from throughout the house and then get the containers out of the attic and start packing those away. Tree is last thing removed....then I'll be sitting down with the garden/seed catalogs!!

Sam, yeah, pretty good maternal leave. If anyone's interested, here's something to read: http://www.kela.fi/web/en

Karin thinks the Flemish Giants are too big, she'd like something in the 4-5kg range. How large does a Flemish Giant grow in 4 months? I think I'd like a hybrid of Flemish Giant mixed with something a bit smaller.

flems they have alot of bone compared to meat.. I raised rex and mini rex's good meat bunny great pelt friendly and well they worked for us..even the mini rexs were nice for meat and you needed less space with them they have great loins an back ends

plus I always gave everyone a chance to be rehomed as a pet before they hit the freezer camp, messed up a few dinner plans doing that way and they are sooooooooooooooooo uber soft and velveteen feeling with their pelts.. I always wanted to make a bedspread out of the pelts...also that very pelt we're discussing is super insulating

Oh, and check out the maternity package in that link, it's pretty cool. I think maternity leave is actually called "child care leave" or something similarly politically correct. It's not only moms that stay home, you see. But as long as you have a kid below 3 years old at home you can be on maternity leave (it can't be in kindergarten). I don't remember how much they pay you, probably about 70-80% of what you were making while working.

Rabbits... Not sure when they reach what weight...but you could just eat them when they are a desired size good idea... Keep a breeding pair...

That website V, the government gives you baby stuff? Blankets, clothing... Preventative stuff? Or did I skim to quick?

Must be nice! I'll be lucky to plant "stuff" by May.. however I have no idea where to plant "things" as we'll have a construction crew on our property this year..

I think the only thing left alone will be the chickens. The sheep fence will have to be moved for the septic field install.

Yup... Pretty awesome... Makes Canada's plan look like sweet s***. Which it is...

Says even 54 working days for the father! The finish are really a step ahead from any other place.. Are your taxes high?

Sam, yeah, everyone gets that package for free when they have a baby (as long as they remember to apply for it). It's pretty cool in my opinion. They change every year. I think when the British Royal Family had their latest addition they were gifted one of those packages by the Finnish embassy or something.

Quote: Our last average frost date here is May 15......but the last two years we had frost and in 2014 we had a snow in May. I start seeds inside, sometime in April, and harden them off before planting in the ground, usually last weekend in May or first weekend in June. I order onion plants from Texas and those can be planted in April and will do okay if it doesn't get too cold. I cover the bed if snow is forecast.
