Outpost JWB; I wish I had some advise, we had on average a hundred rabbits at a time when I was young, but I don't remember much about rabbits, except the one time I got in big trouble (I think my father asked if I had been into it because the roof wasn't shut all the way on the hutch) for playing with the little baby bunnies, the mom ate ALL of them, something about their instincts on keeping predators away from the nest dad said. I don't think it could be the feed, dad fed his a mix of rabbit pellets and cracked corn and never had any problems, and all summer tons of alfalfa and timothy from the neighbor farmers field.
JWB, som rabbit pellets are meant for indoor pet rabbits, so they're very low in nutrition. You need something with a bit more bang in it, since they're staying outside and nursing the little ones requires energy too.
in our laundry room in a crate. Yeap. Not the best set up. It's just been so freaking cold outside. This is the only time I will have a rabbit in the house unless I am treating it for some reason.
We're luckily at about +1C (34F), so she's fine outside. And look at the forecast! I think things are going to green up like crazy next week.
Great weather to build a bunny hutch. We just picked up some cement blocks to make a foundation out of, Right now I've got materials for 8x5 feet, but I think I'll fetch some more blocks and make it 8x7 instead. I'll start digging (I have to move two raised beds) tomorrow, and see how it looks in place.
