Dixie Chicks

Hi :frow. Everyone!

Hennible directed me here! Wow only 5 days and 93 pages !

I can't tell jokes in person but I occasionally can write one. But I can laugh at them too. (I stayed at a Holiday Inn once) ;) I have a few bbq recipes too.
Can I join?

Ok, I was 150 posts behind so I skimmed a bit. If I missed something, say it to me again.

For moss, did anyone suggest lime? That's what I'd use, or actually a product made from crushed egg shells. I'm thinking oyster shell might work too.

NAF, I'm not that familiar with Teuvo. And our U20 team was pretty crap this year, but I'm hoping it's just because the good players have grown up. We had a pretty old team, and went through a bit of a generation shift last year, it will be interesting to see how Team Finland does in the world cup this spring.

Ok, bunny talk. I was planning on building the hutch out of compost enclosure modules, I can pick up 4 3 foot wide pieces for 10 euros, so I thought I'd build it about 3 by 12 feet. Judging by what you guys wrote, that would be more than enough for mommy bunny and her young. I'm thinking we'll do two litters in the summer, so I can build a second little bunny house for the first litter and section off the hutch into two when the next litter comes along. And also I'll keep it sectioned into a bit smaller space while the baby bunnies are very small. We're not getting a dude bunny ourselves, but Karin has worked out something with someone who's buying one. I'm going to make the bunny hatch so that I can take it apart in fall and throw mommy bunny in with the chickens, at least that's the plan.

sounds like my grandma she passed away when she was 98 @BriardChickens she was very active and busy woman whats the weather like there today you still got nostril hair freezing weather today?

heya @idiotswife all you eggs hatch finally we need pictures do you have a favorite chick yet?

Ok I have a few thoughts feel free to jump in or not anyone everyone...... So I been watching alot of these Alaskan reality shows not much else on that looks good and... I was watching them install an outhouse blah blah.......... well my question is where the heck is the heatsource for those things????!?!?!!??!?!? @Alaskan ... I mean I sure as heck would dread the walk out to use it in freezing alaska but shouldnt there be a heatsource in there???

Also someone mentioned Moonshiners @JW12 or
@Beer can or @Outpost JWB anyways someone did .......now if they are doing this moonshining on a reality tv and it's an illegal activity why they have a tv crew driving round with them? I mean just doesnt connect the dots for me other then a reality show thats just made up drama for ppl to watch?

@hennible did you get your greenhouse shoveled clear now? what kind of things do you like to grow? @ChickyChickens how did your hatch go are you finished now?

Yeah, about "Moonshiners"

I pegged that show as rather fake. I mean, haven't they had film crews with the cops, too? Doesn't make sense. Any law enforcement worth their salt could crack down on this one easily and especially after so many seasons.

However, the show is entertaining to the degree that hillbilly-ism has hit mainstream and that blitzed folks are goofy. Educational? Hmmm...... I like the character development. Or, I should say, I find the characters far more likable than the ones on, say, "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo."

Jem, that's why I'm planning on eating the offspring before they reach sexual maturity. Neither of us are really that fond of bunnies, the meat is the most interesting part about them to us. Somehow chickens seem more multi-dimentional. Plus, chickens produce eggs, something the bunnies don't do. And with only one adult, I think the risk of accidents is smaller. We'll see how it takes off. If I build the hutch well, I can always sell it for as much as I pour into it. I should be able to put together a good looking hutch that can withstand our dogs for about 100 euros. Add to that the purchase of a doe, and we'll be up to about 150 euros. After feed and stuff I think it will take about two litters to pay the initial investment compared to what rabbit meat costs in the store. They go for about 15-20 euros per bunny here, and then there's only about a kilo of meat on them.

My condolences. It sounds like your grandfather lived a good, long life. It's marvelous that he was sharp even at an advanced age. You should smile for such good genes!

About outhouses and winter, using a outhouse in -20C isn't a problem as long as you have a polystyrene seat - don't make the mistake on sitting down on a plastic one, that will make you leap up and hit your head in the ceiling. The outhouse provides protection from wind, so it's pretty nice. At least it's a lot better than just going in the forest. And if it's an actively used outhouse, it will provide some heat by itself.
