I pick Barbara. :)
Whatever you look like I'm sure you just being hard on yourself. Everyone is... Stupid standards of beauty etc etc rant rant
Glad to hear the ducks will eat some of the mosquitoes... They sure like to eat tadpoles... Odd Hobby catching tadpoles for your ducks but I do it... Probably catch some minnows for the next year to... agh! this year.

That's a "fresh" egg in the nesting box.. Frozen solid tho..

I'm gonna guess one of your girls pecked at it when it was partially frozen...you might have some egg eating starting up keep an eye on it. Eggs are tough and chickens don't weigh that much I doubt it's broken from being stepped on... And I've seen a few partially frozen pecked at eggs so...

I dunno... I have had egg eaters.... they usually EAT, so everything is cleaned up, just tiny little left overs.

So, I don't think you have an egg eater... I think it got stepped on.

I sometimes get eggs that aren't as strong as I would like. Dunno why... they have oyster shell

I've had partially eaten ones that look like that but you're right it could've been a really weak shell ( of course you're right, ask Alaskan! )

Me too on the week shells they have everything they should need I think it's just my older birds... Every so often a shell is so weak that you pick it up and it breaks... it's amazing

ok I am fairly sure violet is trying to go broody.. she was in the nest box all day I ahd checked but handed felt an egg I reached deeper lifted her a bit and found the egg anyways I lifted her and put her in middle of the henhouse she didnt even move just smushed herself down closer and looks like she has flattened herself...
To me, this is a sure sign she is broody.

I never have. Don't like anyone messing with my feet. Extremely tickleish. My dad used to tickle us girls to the point of pain. No one tickles me anymore. I'm now considered a dangerous weapon if tickled. I'd probably get arrested if I had a pedicure.

same here, no one even tries anymore LOL

thats what I thought when they flatten themselves like that was broody thing but when I went looking for broody info I got sitting in the nest attitude yaddida yaddida...and I couldnt think where I might have read that about the chicken flattening themselves... hrmm well if she is broody I got to decide do I wanna give her the chicks or keep em inside so can make sure they are well use to being handled... or maybe give her a chick or two and have rest inside...........first for sure will keep watching her see if she persists in this slowly more n more broody type behavior...hate to give her chicks and she abandons them
