Gotten some good eggs from ebay, and some not so good, lol. The Lav gene has to be introduced into the breeds which in many means outcrossing with other breeds. Then they have to be rebred back into the Orp type and it doesn't always come back properly.
Seen some beautiful Lav Australorps, but they get so pricey. So gonna try making my own, lol.

Pulled pork on the menu today, I just took a kilo of pork neck, rubbed some salt on it and dumped it in a cast iron pot together with a shallot, a few cloves of garlic and half a liter of Coca Cola. Now it's going to sit in a 120C oven for the next 5 to 8 hours. I also made some dough yesterday that's been in the fridge all night, going to make something ciabattalike to go with the pork.

Oh, and I almost froze my hands off out there... I spilled some water on my gloves filling the big guys waterer, and I can tell you, it gets pretty cold pretty fast. Brr. Had to soak my hands under hot water when I got in.

I'm back inside already, no problem staying warm. Unlike Al, I actually like to keep the house heated (although Karin would disagree - she thinks 20C is way too cold and is always complaining that she's freezing).

ouch with the cold hands in warm water.. sure glad dont have to deal witht hat kinda cold I'd be miserable or drugged all the time

ok sweet dreams and yes kinda what I figured why the birds looked so much slimmer...........makes me pause with getting one cuz I want to keep decent size for freezer birds

Jem, 20C is 20 deg Celsius, or about 293.15 Kelvin. Or if you want it in a weird format, about 68 deg Fahrenheit.
