Dixie Chicks

They are so cuddly! Not sure how I am going to butcher them....

. I only almost cried once on a butcher day when I had to butcher the most beautiful rooster ever. He was gorgeous. He was just meaner than a rattlesnake! So I didn't want to breed that stock.

The snow has not melted. We still have a backyard full of snow angels and hearts drawn by little girls feet

. Well, out to see the chickens & rabbits. I'll try to get pics. I know I keep saying that, Uhhhhh, I never take my cell back there.

I cry each time I have to put one down.....whether it is a chick for deformity or failure to thrive or a rooster that needs to go....it just doesn't come easy to me to end a life. I will do it when it has to be done, but it never comes easy.......I hope it never does.
Nothing wrong with crying on butchering day

Ummm....I couldn't use them since my chopstick skills are nonexistent!

Long plastic spoon meets my skill level. I need to work on the chopstick skills...maybe tonight at supper. I can see it now: DH, what's with the chopsticks? Me, I need to hone my chopstick skills to retrieve and sort the mealworms. DH,

It's in their DNA I tell ya!
LOL you can get chopstick cheaters at any Chinese restaurant reusable too. Or just wrap the big ends with a rubber band and shove a roll of paper or cardboard in up towards the rubber band.... a hinge. Now the chopsticks are always open....

rubber band technique.

from everyones experience with chickens what would you say is the most surprising aspect about having chickens for you?
The most surprising thing for me was how "all absorbing" chickens can be. I spend time just sitting and watching them when the weather allows

and spend time on the computer talking about them and learning ways to care for them when the weather is crappy. They are just so much more entertaining than I ever imagined!
