Picking  up body parts after a predator attack....  Heads wings whole dead chickens/guineas....  My son got wierded out when I picked em up bare handed....  I would have picked them up live without wearing gloves...  No difference dead parts.

I lost forty out of fifty Guinea Tweenagers...    specially ordered from a breeder up north for my starter flock.... gone.

Lost my whole flock of chickens last year....  no parts found.

I probably dont deserve to raise them any more.

Aww. :hugs Bad things do happen to nice people. You should really have them if you like them. Even a few close up to your house to make it easier to watch them.

Usually by 8-9 months....the problem is they start chasing the pullets and hens by 4 to 5 months

and crowing to show-off so the crowing contests can be a problem. I live in the middle of nowhere (rural area between a town of 400 and "city" of 2400) but I do have neighbors that tolerate my chickens (even like them) but I don't want to give them any reason to not like them........not to mention my DH isn't exactly a fan of my hobby so I try to keep the crowing down. I do try and place my most spectacular cockerels with two or three pullets to people who want to start an Icelandic flock of their own. That makes it easier to let them go....but those opportunities are few.
mine still havent uttered a crow...

Our RIR roo when i was a kid was so mean my father used a garbage can top as a shield to feed them. He imbedded and lost one of his spurs in my dad's boot, he still has it. Must be they shed them like a snake skin only way thicker cause he still had spurs.

It can happen to anyone. You are right that's the worst thing... :hugs
Oh and it's amplified by the predator being your ( or mostly ) your moms dog... :(

I used to be big into baseball when I was younger. I was thinking their was a black box team also yrs ago. Nope but I knew I heard the name.
"The 1919 World Series resulted in the most famous scandal in baseball history. Eight players from the Chicago White Sox (later nicknamed the Black Sox) were accused of throwing the series against the Cincinnati Reds."

They made a movie about it, "Eight Men Out".

Some roosters have "favorites" and wear them out and some flocks have too low of hens to roosters ratio so multiple roosters are causing too much wear on the hens/pullets.
@NotAFarm Great picture of you and your son!!!
Thank you! He has a mural on his bedroom wall that is a photo of the field on the night of the first game of the World Series and a set of the DVDs of the World Series and a poster of the team and.........yeah, we're big White Sox fans

@perchie.girl Maybe you should keep that mossberg....
Your in a warm climate right? Hard to tell with Cali. It seems they have multiple climates. Maybe a flock of Malay? They get up to three ft tall!
Maybe a livestock guard dog?
That really sucks. My father lost almost his whole flock when I was a kid including that super mean RIR roo that we loved in two nights by a little weasel.

both are crosses... Butlers about ohh gosh I think lemme think umm 20ish mark and he's barred rock/java/faverollie( I really like him he's very chill n good size) and Matty he's amercana/polish/SLW he's probly bout 16ish weeks he's about the size of butler right now but not as filled in..and seems a bit more fussy not aggressive just bossy wants to toss his roosterynes around more..
