Hanna is a grand example of an Araucana, I am drooling now... Her tufts are amazing... Does she have the quieter, less shrill voice? And may I ask where you got her from? I'm looking for different stock to broaden my gene pool and quality...
She hasn't laid yet, but they are supposed to be really dark! Any day now........Does the cuckoo Marans lay dark eggs?
Quote: I got a dozen eggs shipped to me from BYCer Ray_n_Debi. Three hatched. Two managed to drown in an open water dish the first day I let them out with the main flock (three days old) with their Icelandic momma. I named her Hans Solo since she was the only one. I was positive that she had to be a boy, that I could not be so lucky as to have a pullet. I had to change the name to Hanna Solo when she turned out to be a pullet. She definitely has a different voice than the Icelandics.
Quote: How old is she? Her comb has a lot of color so it should be soon!

No hatchlings yet on my bator. Going to go hover though. Because that helps the eggs hatch![]()

I have a son in Louisville, KY and have been trying to plan a trip down to Nashville from there. If I get down that way, do you want some eggs?
I feed Purina Startena free choice. It is a gamebird starter that has 30% protein. I feed oyster shell free choice. They get meal worms (dried or home raised), fermented whole and cracked grains, sprouted grains/seeds and whatever scraps from the house or garden I think they'll eat.
Yes, hovering is required for eggs to hatch!
