Dixie Chicks

What the H
My friend hatch out some chicks, my eggs my incubator one hatched with its yoke sack not absorbed and died, another is a cross beak...
How'd I get so lucky with my 3 batches??

So you can't donate Alaskan?
nope...

US citizens don't get the vaccine... because the US says it is easier to just do a TB tine (or however that is spelled) test on everyone to see if they have TB or not.

If you get the vaccine, you test positive on the TB tine test... and even with our miracles of modern medicine, it is a bit tricky (no fast and easy way) to tell if you have TB or only have antibodies to TB.

SO, they were happy to take my plasma, but not my blood.

some countries do it the other way around... they vaccinate everyone.

I have read that yolk sack is often a vitamin deficiency... I dunno.. where is that cool sheet that lists every thing..

AH! I did save it:

I didn't see cross beak or unabsorbed yolk... but they did have:

Unhealed navel
Mushy chicks

can be due to:

Temperature too low during
incubation
Wide temperature variation in
incubator
Humidity too high during incubation
Poor ventilation

I had a few chicks that had not quite perfect navels (lived fine, but a bit more of a bump there, a little scab spot, not a perfect closure)

I wonder what could have caused that... hummmmmm

I haven't been using a 'smart, record the max. and min. temps' thermometer.. I wonder if there is more fluctuation than I am aware of....

or..... not sure

That makes sense for my friend
She just asked me as she went and I kept it simple ( not that she's not smart, she is, just one can only text so much )
Also the power went out on her during incubation. The scissor beaks not from my eggs (woo hoo)
400

She said brahma not from me,
mine are mutts
