I know... but they're noisy. I try to turn them often though so they direct themselves to the light.

Huh? Just read up on it. Didn't realize that's what I was doing years ago, just knew it worked. I also clipped.
well I ran out of four inch pots and the nursery had nomore to give me.. so I went with plan B I got some solo cups and been transplanting marigolds into them..and some purple allyssum
I have a friend that told me when I got my first turkey eggs to hatch that I would find out that eating one I raised wasn't going to happen. She had tried raising them but sold them so she wouldn't have to butcher them. They are so much more friendly than chickens and their big eyes just take in everything. I love the "whut whut" sound the poults make. The last I hatched, two years ago, were a pair of Bourbon Reds that a farmer neighbor bought. They are pets at his place and I can visit them if I want. Sharps may not want to make dinner of them since he is getting attached.but that will be a turkey house and just hold dumpling and noodle until they are processed.........I supose I could use it for other things chickens later instead of the dogs but LOL the plan is it will be for the dogs later turkeys when we have em to raise out
I really have been enjoying the turkeys.. I love there sounds they are soo much quieter and everything from the chicks..........I was expecting super dumb but I think I got smart turkeys they just are slow to do stuff cuz they watch always watching they dont just jump into stuff.. and @Sharps Big 50 really likes the turkeys infact he has taken to hand feeding them some mealyworms
naww he whispers different recipes to them lol I am fairly sure they are numbered in days I think he just likes that he can handle them... the chickens abit more s kittish and he is fairly inexperienced with handling birds so that hesitation makes him leary to do itI have a friend that told me when I got my first turkey eggs to hatch that I would find out that eating one I raised wasn't going to happen. odd, hoping he just stressed himself over his women. Glad to see he's protective of his girls! I've got a coronation Sussex rooster with bumblefoot. Figure I'll have to cut that out this week with a scalpel.Didn't go to the swap today. My friend canceled and I didn't want to drive 2 hours away by myself. SO, I met up with a local breeder & bought 4 OE (1 day old) and 6 Cuckoo Marans (2 weeks old). My hunt for the BCFM is over. I give up. Plan B: I am hoping one of the 6 cuckoo marans is a rooster. Then I will breed him with the EE, OE, and BCFM hens. The purchase of the new ones put me over the 100 mark.....but who's counting![]()
@minihorse927
. Something happened to King Tut (the oldest CCL rooster). He is limping. I checked him for bumble foot and for a broken leg. Not sure what happened. Probably got it hurt in a fight with another rooster. He was free ranging today with his flock and all the others were out. He does fine, just hops on the one foot. He started this yesterday. They have been out free ranging daily and King Tut is very protective over "his girls" (2 CCL hens and 2 BR hens) I'll watch him closely, poor guy![]()
The hens have finally started stepping up to the plate! We got 19 eggs yesterday and 16 today! Yeah!
@Beer can
