I think the suckers are just typical for crabapples, doing the same with mine and it isn't hollow. I have a regular apple tree that's very hollow, and leaning almost on a 45, looks like it grew that way. I'm at work so I can't take a pic, it's knarly. It has had to been hollow for many years, we've lived here five and it produces tons of apples. Apple trees are tough. I pick apples off hollow wild ones that have been that way for over 20yrs.

Really? do you up the humidity before hatching?

I bought an exo-terra hygrometer that I'll just stick into the incubator. Right now I have it sitting in my kitchen next to the incubator and it shows 30-45% depending on if we have the fire place going and the weather outside.
I raise the humidity to 60 or 65 % when someone externally pips.
Yeah I didn't do anything special hatched 8 of 9...
I upped it at hatch a bit
But I just guess at everything based on the air cells....
agree.

I'll be posting lots of pictures during.. for lots of opinions.

Shipped duck eggs: let them rest for 24 hrs on the kitchen counter big end up after arrival? What do you think?
I typically let then rest 12 to 24 hours with big end up. Depends on air cell condition uon arrival.

I thought being originally from the Virginia-North Carolina area and at 19 started traveling the world not returning home till I retired I had seen and heard of just about everykind of wine, beer, cider in general. Never had Crab apple cider. Never seen it either. But out on an Island out West, way out west. I learned what my sons had done with the Crab apples off the tree in the back yard. They had large sling shots. Very large. That mess dripped red violet everywhere. First came the scrubbing and then the painting before military housing saw it. Eldest son in Middle school taught the youngest son the preschooler how to use a massive sling shot on one afternoon in the back yard.

@BriardChickens my view of a bad air cell is one that rolls around inside the shell when you rotate it... if it jiggles a lot, but stays in approx same place, then it is partially detached...
