Dixie Chicks

I had 2 over achievers today! Wish I had a scale to weigh these eggs! The one on the top left is HUGE! It came from a barred rock-this size is not typical for her. The 2nd one over is very large. It came from a leghorn/RIR mix hen. It is her typical size egg. The 3rd one over is for comparison. Just a regular size egg from a random hen.

I used a quarter for comparison. I couldn't find a ruler....

yeah!!! I'll publish the 2015 amerenese dictionary in may hahha... how you feeling any better since you napped?
napped, for 7 hours...lol. got to feed all the babies in the 5 brooders. The adults are going to have to suffer for the night as I'll be lucky to make it outside and Josh is at work 1.5hours away in a dump truck, so he can't feed for me. They got fed this morning. I think they'll survive the night.

Handsome bird jem

Hey duck people, do drakes usually go after hens who are no where near laying age? Ducklings spent last week plus beside the adults in a separate pen, no fighting for the last 4 days, and the aggression was mild in the first place... so I put the little ones in the main pen and my drake (who is rather gentlemanly for a duck) turned into a sex crazed maniac... Anyway he's in the small pen, and my older hens and the babies are doing great together.... Thoughts on reintroduceing them, or is it just a matter of the others getting bigger first?

Sam, I'm still new in the duck keeping, so can't say for sure... but I'm thinking it's just a matter of letting the juvies get bigger first... can you keep him separated out for a while and leave the kids and girls together? Try putting him back in a while? JMO
