My hen with the face that's getting blacker by the day, this may be as dark as she gets, she layed her first egg yesterday... Under the porch/stair area in my car port, silly thing.

LOL! Thanks @vehve for letting me know about the issue. I thought maybe I was in chicken jail for something and that's why I wasn't getting email notifications. I was a bit bumfuzzled as to whom I had ticked off this time.

@minihorse927 , 13 MISSING CHICKS!!!! WOW! How do they lose chicks, or not notice that damaged box? That's crazy!

Not sure about bamas vacation
It's a big bureaucratic thing with the eggs, it has nothing to do with the Heath of the consumer... It's about keeping tabs on supply and demand... Funny thing is, its legal on Vancouver island for restaurants and grocery/Heath food stores to retail local farm eggs from small scale places who don't hold egg shares... I have some reading to do... Got to get this bs changed.

I know! all I really hope is that someone found a bunch of little baby chicks running around and just stuck them back in a chick box andthat they didn't get loose and a truck and all die in a truck

@hennible , that hen is beautiful! It is almost impossible for the average person to sell eggs from their backyard to any grocery store around here. You have to have permits, inspections, file taxes on it and all kinds of mumbo jumbo. It's ridiculous. So, most people just sell from their own front door. Ohio also has stupid laws that you cannot advertise "Fresh eggs", "Farm eggs", "Brown eggs" or anything of the like. The sign is only allowed to say "Eggs for sale". People break that law everywhere here though. Hopefully the police have better things to do, like controlling drug trafficking (tons of heroine overdoses around here at spiking rates in the past couple years) and hopefully the police will overlook these minor details of us little farms just trying to recoup some funds to feed our critters.
