Dixie Chicks

Ahh, partridge chantecler! Pretty bird, the one in front has the colors of a wellie. I don't think I've ever saw pics of the hens, only roos. Missing comb should have been a giveaway, but my wellie girl has a rather small comb.

I'll try and get some better pictures for you when I get home. Waiting at the dealership to get my truck serviced...

Me and the wife and kids went on a walk last week while one of the girls was at softball practice. There was a goose sitting on eggs on top of a old railroad tressle. I thought what a smart bird no predators. Now I'm thinking it seems like it could get to hot, and how are the babies going to get down?
Terrible pics but she is on the top left, and wouldn't put her head back up after she saw us.

You can almost see her in this blur, she's been there for a week so I'd say definitely setting, crazy goose.

Geese are silly. Coworker and I have been watching this Canadian goose on a webcam live stream for a few weeks now. The goose chose a tomato planter on a 10th floor apartment patio. She's due to hatch any day now. Hopefully her goslings don't fall 10 floors!usually she's off the eggs in the morning and then rearranges them a few times a day.yesterday she was covered in snow.

@Beer can s goose is fine... the babies can fall into the water and maybe be fine, but @BriardChickens HOW is the goose that you are watching going to make it? No way!!! (also, my condolences on the snow and cruddy weather)

@chickisoup impressive fire stories

No idea, the problem is one isn't allowed to touch/move them until after they hatch. If you look at the pictures of her surroundings it's all concrete/city. I'll have to post the link to the live stream when I get home.

WOW!!! Someone besides me has snow! Sorry, just couldn't pass that up. We are actually into the 70's F already and supposed to hit 80o before the storms move in. Nothing like the poor folks in Oklahoma and Kansas tho. Can't believe what rotten luck they've had in the recent times with horrible weather. Think I might not complain so much about our snow anymore.

We've been super dry here too and living literally in the edge of thousands of acres state and federal forest, AND with all the city common sense challenged folk up here with all their motorized "toys", it makes you keep your head on a swivel looking for smoke. We spotted one a couple years ago before it got too far. Some kid running an overheated ATV across a dry field and his muffler set it on fire. We just happened to be coming home and called it in right away, thank the Lord, because he was afraid he would get in trouble (yep, you bet!) so he was trying to put it out himself and it was already burning a couple acres and heading for the woods that would have burned streight to us. We already had somebody else's stupidity burn within feet of our gardens and take out 300 hand planted BY US pines put in as a property marker/wind break. That one too was caught before the forest lit up, just. Our field next to the house was burning but the forest service made a full on attack and stopped it. Neighbor wasn't as lucky. Didn't lose his house but it burnt right up to his back door and he lost every one of his beautiful trees that lined his drive right up to his garage. That one was started by a makeshift fire pit not put out after the party the night before. At least we were able wreak havoc with that guys insurance company for our lost trees

we had one here a year ago that was set by a twelve year old... she thought it was fun to toss burning stuff into the tree of her neighbors yard. OH she is in bigg trouble. That one burned 12,000 acres... Through an area surrounded by homes. Previously the land had been used for growing tomatoes so at the time no ag was being done but wild Oat hay had taken over the properties.... Boy did it burn fast.

@NotAFarm Are you following the hockey world championships? Rinne just played his third game in a row without letting the puck go behind him. And the US took a bit of a embarrassing loss against Belarus today...

Yepp, 10th floor. If you read the comments, some people think the hatchlings will go down safely provided it isn't a windy day.. yikes! Plus then they have to make it across a highway to make it to water..

Due to hatch any day now! For all we know they might have started
