Did anyone try putting rice in the incubator to lower humidity?

I *think* I got mine low enough this time, will see in a few days when the calls hatch...

I did hear that unpopped popcorn was better than rice... I might try both in different bators after I'm done with this run...

Hollowed out pineapple stuffed with boneless country style ribs rubbed with homemade seasoning and wrapped in thick cut bacon and sprinkled with a light creole seasoning.
Smoked at 240 average for 5 hours.
call it "swineapple"

Quote: Oh, I didn't see it was the humidity that was the problem. I let the hens brood in the summer so I don't have to deal with it. During the Easter Hatchalong each year, our house is dry from the gas forced air heat so high humidity is never a problem then. I can see how zipping with the uneven air cell could be a big problem.

It would be an good experiment to see which worked better and if the surface area of the rice/popcorn has any effect.

It is currently 46F with winds at 20 mph.......agghhh, glad I didn't plant my greenhouse plants....it is going down to 40F tonight.

The Easter Hatchalong chicks have been weaned by their momma. Looking like 5 out of 6 are cockerels....

....but I have three broody hens with a total of 28 eggs under them. My 5 year old rooster coupled with 16 hens meant low fertility earlier this spring so I'm not expecting any where near all of them to be fertile. I will candle them next week and remove all the clears.

they each have at least three good ones.

Have a great day everyone.....off to work!
