I added water this last time at the first internal pip and most drown. I don't think I'll add water anymore.

I've got a chocolate orp broody. She is sitting on 18 EE eggs. Thinking of trading her call eggs for those EE eggs. She has been an awesome first time sitter. If she's half the broody her sister was, then she'll be an awesome mama to all those chicks or ducklings. I've got calls in the incubator due to hatch 3 and 4 days after her chicks should.

Yup, I'd try her... I take back what I said about putting the Ohiki under my Am though... she only ended up with 3 chicks cuz the old roo went psycho and attacked her, the eggs and me... he'd prolly have destroyed the Ohiki first just outta spite... :/

I probably wouldn't add water. It screwed me this time around. I'm fed up and need a barn full of broodies.

Wish I could send you some of mine... I swear the smallest ones screech like banshees!!

I am fretting over these calls... tempted to go stick them under one of the banshees, except one nest is 3 and the other is 2... the only single broody left is the Silkie and she's gonna sit the Ohiki...

Something got my quail while i was at work today. All 6 od them gone.. A big hole and claw marks, thinking it was the fox that doesnt live far from here.

I have 6 eggs from the last 2 days that i set..

If it got away with it once, it will be back, keep a eye out! Don't rule out the elusive weasel. Weasels leave the bodies though. Is all gone or just heads bit off?

edited to add coons will take all just like fox. I've been lucky we have a family of fox all the time around but they haven't touched my chickens, might be only a matter of time
