Today the smoke is going into our direction. Fire is still not under control and we figure ~20ish km away from us. It has burned over 10,000 hectare of land so far. Lots of forest in between us and the fires. Not very windy, but no rain in the forecast for another week. Fire seems to spread fast. Yesterday they said 6000 hectares gone.

I have the plan on how to transport all the animals off the property in my head. This includes the 4 sheep in the cab of my truck and ducks/chickens in 2 large dog kennels on the bed of my truck. Dog would have to go with my husband.

I'd say it's about 30km away from us. Thankfully I have a few friends around here that would let me put the sheep onto their properties. Just have to get them there.

I have a horse trailer... that is large enough to handle all my livestock... Just a two horse slant load... But I reallllly want to trade it in for a four horse Stock trailer... many more uses for them. besides just livestock.

but with a horse trailer of any kind you can load em up and keep em there till time to come home if you can.

We had two big fire storms blow through san diego county scary scary stuff.... Just grass fires will shoot flames up thirty feet if they are pushed by a little bit of wind. you cant out run them either...

BAMA, it's been so quiet here without you!

Wind has picked up a bit, but we also have a 60% chance of rain & thunderstorms. We shall see. Not worried here. Before it reaches us it would have to burn through an oil plant which I doubt they'll let happen! Fire is still about 30km away, wind keeps turning.

we had a big fire up here last summer... it was WILD how much and how long it had to rain before they got that fire under control.....

What we found out here was that fire will travel under ground following dead roots.... Here the fence posts burned down into the ground a good three feet...



This was a friends farm I sold her the cart above and harness to go with it... like I said the fence posts were three feet into the ground...

we were evacuated twice as the fire burned up to the back of the house here then agian after we were evacuated from moms house... we came back to grandmas house.

So Safety safety safety ... have a bug out list... Quick grab bag of clothes medicines and a snack for everyone.... granola bars what ever... and a place to go along with an alternate place to go. There is Nothing in your home worth your life.... if its important it should be in a safe deposit box...
