Funny thing is mine is on Wed, lol...

I canned with my mom when I was very little, but not since then... want to at least do jams, but I am leery of pressure cookers... there was an accident when I was little... :/

I bought my first pressure canner for my birthday.... a 16 quart Presto...

We bought the same one a few yrs ago. We like the ball jars the best cause they have measurement marks on the jar but we bought a lot from the Family Dollar Store, they are just as good as the ball ones and half price, just no measurement marks.

So the one in my hand could be BBR as well?? It's a different one from the 3, and seems to look similar to the darker wildtype in the trio...

you should get mostly BBR. The black hen of course throws only black. everyone else in the pen is bbr. I had a gold rooster in there and some of those chick's may be from him. If they're gold, they're from him. He's the one who got the tar beat out of him and was throwing the scant feather legged chicks.

Pressure canners are safe, we use a four qt one for cooking often, they really save energy, cook in a fraction of the time with the burner as low as it goes once the weight starts wiggling.
Just don't do what a buddy did canning venison drunk. He was running cold water on top of it so he could open it quicker, had more to do. A drip of cold water hit one of the hot jars when he took the lid off and exploded all over his face.
