If I get them, I've had bad luck so far. I was supposed to get some cemani turken crosses, and then the woman had a weasel attack that killed her NN roo and a lot of her flock and she only had one fibro pullet and a bunch non fibro but told me they carried the gene for it. Further research on it I think she was wrong, I heard non fibro no gene I wasn't going to drive 2 hrs each way for one pullet and some non fibros. I really wanted them, good news is though she said she would sell me pure cemani hatching eggs for $20 apiece. BUT following her it doesn't sound like she is getting many eggs and is hatching the few she has for herself, who knows maybe in he future. So I bought six white silkies, they are doing great even though I never wanted the silly things. IF I get the white giants I plan on doing a cross with the silkies to up their size for some giant fibro meat birds. I am mainly after SandHills white giants, they are Golda Miller line closed flock, very interested for giant capons eventually. The langshans were to fill out there min order, but I think there cool and will gladly breed the also. If it doesn't happen, I'm not optimistic anymore, I did find a breeder of white giants in PA with the Golda Miller line.

Hope those JG's are a crap sight better than the black JG's I just sent to the soup pot... crazy as the mad hatter, not even decent sized eggs and they bitched constantly...

X2, I do not know anyone with them near me, minihorse I think has them? She found a great deal on a cemani roo also I think? Yeah fibro and better for our cruel winters, I don't know if the silkies I got will survive, but I didn't think the one polish I have would either, she's still laying everyday just as much as my brown leghorns!

Yeah, mini has them... think she got them from KYTNpusher (sp?) and cjwalden has the Cemanis... wow, awesome polish! Hopefully your Silkies survive... they should as long as they can get or stay dry in the extreme lows...

Why did I get paint silkies? Dang things. I used to be so good at sexing them young, not so much now. The one has a rounded Pullet type crest but sure acts like a roo!

I sold a mated and laying pair in Rocky Mount and Wytheville, for no where nears what some tell me they go for. Well that is great for others but in the south west area of Virginia those high prices you can forget getting, Bc it will not happen. It best lay giant double yolk eggs or be a fantastic meat bird because only two other types sell here.
Some women want the front porch pets for their cuteness and small eggs and retired men seem to go for the exotic birds.

I consider an Ohiki an exotic bird. Phoenix Bantams, Fly Ties, & Phoenix.

The majority were given or sold to elderly retired men, other than that,...
Only one young man (bought Crele Pair)an two ladies, one younger woman bought a roo for her hens he was a Golden blue Duck Wing Schubert Phoenix, and the other elderly lady bought a Phoenix Bantam Roo a handsome sweetheart. Other than those three it had been only elderly men interested.

I am out of the phoenix, Phoenix Banyam and Ohiki business.

Farm houses around here wanted something more substanial. Several friends have the Ohiki roos in their small personal gardens keeping them clean of snakes snd beetles and such.

Also I discovered other buying habit of the locals from Ronoake/Richmond to Tenn line. From the WV line to NC line.
They want egg layers. Marans they ask what are they?
They want meat birds. They never heard of Bresse.
Some are tired of the Black Australorp and the Barred rocks and the Cornish rock. They want more color. They want fluffier feathers for that in the future feather mattress. They want more color. Wyandottes and American Orps are cheaper versions of the English Orp. But believe me once someone that has a Wyandotte roo comes into contact with the very sweet natured English Orp roos they are amazed and immediately want to start swapping them out. Prettier, More eggs, more meat on the bones and human friendly. What could be better than a colorful friendly dual purpose bird? I really miss the australorp and barred rocks, they were heavy egg layers and friendly dual purpose birds. I really miss them. I was really selling straight runs.
Some local feed stores give straight run a BAD name.

I hatched a pair of Serama, thought I had a pullet and roo... one was squatting away so nicely, then turned around and jumped anything that even looked feminine... and crowed loudly... gender confused Serama, lol... he still squats when I pick him up... :/
