thank you for finding that site. I am going to give Pemmican a try... along with the egg preservation thing.

Guinea eggs make Eggcellent deviled eggs... they are mostly yolk...

Slaked lime.... slaked lime.... VBG

Guineas only lay for the summer.... I was wanting to use them as pretty much my soul source of eggs and protien... but never had a way to store them safely ... i cant rely on refrigeration at the house. Long story.

matter of fact most of my eggs got fed to the ravens.... another long story.

The making of Pemmican is time consuming BUT I have the perfect climate for drying meat. Couple of screens to keep the bugs off....

ya you have awesome ways to dry stuff there... thinking of having 50 make me some sort of teured frame that will hold square screened shelves so I can dry herbs and other things on........least during the summer.......

Quote: Yep my Green house room is going to get some major use between aqua ponics and a summer kitchen.... LOL.

I have one big opening thats appx 12 x 6 which was supposed to be for french doors..... till I found out how much they were...

But I can staple over shade cloth for a bug screen. Then just some frames made of two by twos with screens on one side and drying grids on the other side. to give a bit of distance between the screen and food. Then make another frame that slips over the top of it all out of two by fours on edge... Screen on one side hinged and gasketed so nothing can crawl between... The whole think could be supported by a swingset style frame... from chains. I can slip each foot of the swingset in an ant excluder. Or just hang from the rafters.

I used to hang the dog food feeder that way and never had ants in the dog food.

Deb, can you make a root cellar/or something equivalent??? For 6 month storage they don't have to have full refrigeration, just cooler like root cellar/cool pantry like area... just a thought... :)

Quote: Oh I wish.... decomposed granite is my dirt I tried to have an arena put in.... got down about eighteen inches and found a bus sized rock right in the middle Not in the pictures below...

The back of my house showing my bedroom and the green house room.

My driveway

a view of my house from the neighbors

jsut a pretty scene... Yep my rock....

I could probably build something by building a cinderblock building partially dug in and then cover it with dirt.
Digging down more than a foot or two is an iffy project without dynamite.... LOL. I could do some stacked water containers for a heating and cooling column...
