Dixie Chicks

@Alaskan
that bites.. :hugs more reason to incubate more. I don't know

Geez, I wish I had hatches like that, 1 drake to 5 girls...

Got 4/4 drakes, lol... :p

Though 1 *might* be a girl...

Don't sell.... You can make money selling Marans... At least up here lots of people want them.
My last duck hatch... 10 ducklings, only three clear girls

Ugh... make things difficult, lol... trying to make some cuts in birds... :p

I wonder if I have the time etc...... To go through the pain that @Beer can did....

Just order 25 rose comb brown leghorns through Murray Mcmurray, $1.68ea. At least you'll know you will get them, and what you ordered.
I was looking up pics of red sussex chicks, mine do look like them, saw some pics of light sussex, three of the white giants they sent me(was four, one died) look just like them???
I haven't got a refund on the langshans yet, it wouldn't suprise me if they don't send them with more packing peanuts, reading reviews I see they do that sometimes...

@seminolewind The white giants are smoky grey and can have dark heads as chicks, they turn white when they get their adult feathers.

Ohh and those pics are actually the ones IMO look good, I didn't have the non hackers, three of them , in the pics.
Funny you mentioned giants cause I'm wondering why my only if is in with the geese and I realize its one of mine I gave him as a chicks LOL. Hey finder's keepers but needs worming and powder ing. Oh well

The brown leghorn from McMurray are light brown and I have dark browns.

But yeah... Maybe I should just switch to light browns :idunno

Ohhh... Rose comb leghorns are hard to find to begin with, and you have to have dark brown which is even hard to find in straight comb Lol.
You sound as bad as me insisting on the white giants, blacks and blues are easy to find, but I had to have whites....Lol.

Actually... When I was looking for RC Leghorns, the RC is just super hard to find.... I was at first wanting Light Brown, but no breeder had them (maybe because that is what most hatcheries sell) the dark brown and white were most common (I found three breeders that had them  ) and those three also all had whites. What else they bred varied.

as nature would want it.. maybe the trick is to really want what you don't need so that what you get is what you actually wanted?

My due date on Cayuga hatch was YESTERDAY. Nothing happened. I candled, some look like late deaths, I saw movement in one. I didn't trust the temperatures in the beginning, so am hoping my hatch is delayed by a few days.
The one egg I did crack open had a good sized yolk still left, didn't want to dig deeper when I didn't see movement....

Only thing is.... The first set of dark brown RC Leghorns that I hatched are so very close to picture perfect.. Super wide tail feathers, good color... Their legs aren't bright yellow (more of a dull yellow) and their eggs are a little small... But those are their ONLY negatives... Well, and the fact that the rooster I decided to keep was hetero for RC.

Now I know that I was an idiot to get rid of him -sigh-
