I would get oxytetracycline, add a little at a time to the water until it begins to change color slightly. Give for 10 days. I personally would treat the entire flock, since they've all been exposed, and it's not worth losing all of them.

No no no
I'd just watch closely to see what happens. Some birds are stronger than others, they could have immune systems that will hold up just find, and come out with the other side with immunity... Your sick hen may just be weak genetically or something. If you do end up with a sick flock just make a choice, treat or cull. If I ended up with an entire infected flock id send one for testing so I'd know what exactly I was dealing with and I'd go from there. It's a very personal choice, dependent on how much time, energy, money etc one has invested. That said there is no harm in treating with alternatives, such as garlic just to bolster their immune systems in my opinion. Another option is the addition of probiotics, some can be added dry to feed like calfmana (I think that's what it's called) others could be added to water, or you could prepare some fermented feed...

Thank you soooooo much for your help. I've put the sick chick in my down stairs shower. My husband will kill me. She's roosting now so I'll see how she is in the morning. Her little face is so badly swollen, I'm not convinced she'll make it through the night. My brother in law said he'll come & cull her tomorrow if she's no better. I'm still pretty new to chicken keeping and am on a huge learning curve. Your support is very much appreciated x

We have all been there. A sick duck was my reason for joining BYC, and I've learned a lot chatting to people here. Sence then I've had many birds in my bath tub, injuries from predators, from dogs, from doors... Lol
I've raised chicks in my kitchen and ducklings in my spare room. I've had losses from old age, coccidiosis, foxes and dogs. I've had frost bite, mites, worms, favus etc. The main lesson has been preventative maintainece, proper housing and food... Anyway this thread has a great group of people with exsperiance in everything from breeding to butchering, stick around and chat
