Good luck @BriardChickens . On the bright side, you have lots of time to prepare, but it will fly by! I'd have to agree with vehve on reduction of numbers. Specifically in the duck dept.
Contractors are coming back here today. Delivery of kitchen cabinets, DISHWASHER
, and other misc stuff coming later this week. Today, the existing floor boards have dried from them spraying the mold with bleach. Now they get painted with Kilz. Then that will dry and they can start on the floors. So far, all plumbing fittings have been replaced, a water shut off valve has been installed on the hot water heater, lots of demo, lots of packing up, moving stuff from one room to another so they can work without barriers. I REALLY hope they are done by Thanksgiving.
We are having a very hard time finding a countertop to replace the old and match the existing. We've been to every store around, searched the net. Idk
. It's just laminate butcherblock look countertops. I know they are not "in style", but that's what we have on the 2 other spots. No way we can afford all new tops for the whole kitchen.
In chicken news, the deaths had stopped, at least for a couple weeks. Then yesterday i had a little SS cockerel die. He had been treated with Duramycin, got better, started coughing, treated him again, got better, over and over. The other day when they were free ranging, I got home from work and DH told me I had at least 2 sick ones. I went out to feed and pull the sick ones out of the batch. Little SS was one and the other was a crested cream legbar mix pullet. Isolated them, but didn't medicate them. The SS was bad off. It's been getting really cold at night, so I'd expect I will loose a few of the weaker ones.
Got to get ready for work, you all have a great day!
