Dixie Chicks

I just skinned three red sussex cockerels and one giant pullet, weighed about the same, 2lbs 2oz. The tail less giant I am starting to think wasn't, I dry plucked it being it was so meaty, wasn't hard. When I put it in the killing cone I could tell it was heavier, it weighed three and a half pounds dressed. No tail, (no tail bone) to many feathers, wrong color legs, to much meat. The giant cockerels I kept only weigh five pounds live and are twice as big as her, they grow their frame first and put on meat later.
I think it was crossed with manx rumpy or it was a manx rumpy switched at birth. They are the only rumpless birds SandHill has. I'll post a pic in a second from my phone.

BC, your moving the animals made me think of 'See Spot Run' movie where the woman hitches a ride in a horse trailer, make sure you bring a flashlight and not matches, Lol!

Good luck @BriardChickens . On the bright side, you have lots of time to prepare, but it will fly by! I'd have to agree with vehve on reduction of numbers. Specifically in the duck dept.

Contractors are coming back here today. Delivery of kitchen cabinets, DISHWASHER

, and other misc stuff coming later this week. Today, the existing floor boards have dried from them spraying the mold with bleach. Now they get painted with Kilz. Then that will dry and they can start on the floors. So far, all plumbing fittings have been replaced, a water shut off valve has been installed on the hot water heater, lots of demo, lots of packing up, moving stuff from one room to another so they can work without barriers. I REALLY hope they are done by Thanksgiving.
We are having a very hard time finding a countertop to replace the old and match the existing. We've been to every store around, searched the net. Idk

. It's just laminate butcherblock look countertops. I know they are not "in style", but that's what we have on the 2 other spots. No way we can afford all new tops for the whole kitchen.

In chicken news, the deaths had stopped, at least for a couple weeks. Then yesterday i had a little SS cockerel die. He had been treated with Duramycin, got better, started coughing, treated him again, got better, over and over. The other day when they were free ranging, I got home from work and DH told me I had at least 2 sick ones. I went out to feed and pull the sick ones out of the batch. Little SS was one and the other was a crested cream legbar mix pullet. Isolated them, but didn't medicate them. The SS was bad off. It's been getting really cold at night, so I'd expect I will loose a few of the weaker ones.

Got to get ready for work, you all have a great day!

Any chance of finding some 2nd grade real wood? I bought about 27 feet of oak counter top that had a nice finish on one side, and slight flaws on the other for like 300 euros for our kitchen. Had it in over two years now, and it still looks great even though I cook daily in there.

outpost,I would love to see pictures of your reno ;)

We are planning on doing a big reno with the new home once our house here sells. We'd like to open up the kitchen to the living room (i think that's a weight bearing wall so $$$), redo floor, electrical and kitchen
