The wild mallard is probably the best meat I've ever had. If you fry it up quick and nice, you can't tell it apart from beef when you have a piece on your fork until you taste it. Those things can be super cute too, I shot one this fall, but once again, didn't get the best possible hit and when Vaiva came back with it, she was holding it super carefully and it was just looking up in her mouth, wondering what was happening. By the time she got it to me it had passed away though.

Those blue layers sound interesting. I like colorful eggs, it's so pretty when you get all the colours. Not sure if I shared this one here yet, but this is now our current spectrum:

Pretty pale, but clearly powder blue in the right light.

We had some excitement yesterday, I locked up the chickens and let the dogs in the yard, and started wondering when the dogs got all weird. Turns out one of the bunnies (Inkeri) had escaped the cage and Älize almost got a hold of her. She bit down hard, and I got my hands in between at the same moment as she chomped on her tail. Spent a couple minutes prying my fingers between her jaws to get her to release her grip, but the bunny didn't seem to have any injuries. I'll be surprised if she gives birth in a couple weeks now though.

Kits are doing good, about to go out and check on them soon.

My dogs got ear mites once, don't remember what we gave them, could you imagine..little bugs in your ears! Drove them nuts!! If you see your dogs shaking their heads, itching their ears, mostly just shook their heads, looks like dirt in their ears...it's ear mites...'ain't no bugs on me' ....Not a biggie mini, not like they have crabs or something.

lmao, crabs! I was doing some reading and since this seems to be an all over thing the body itchiness that it is likely mange mites. Supposedly ivomec injectible will treat them for the mites. I'm just dreading having Josh hold them down kicking and screaming while I stick a needle in their neck. I'm sure they'll love me after that adventure

Anyone ever see that poo pourri commercial? I saw it months ago on the wife's Facebook. I seriously thought it was a joke. Commercial is hilarious, check it out on youtube. We saw it for sale at a A.C. Moore , guess it isn't a joke Lol!

Mini, you should have a vet check it out, if it's mange they'll be able to confirm. If they can't find anything, it could also be some sort of allergies. I'm guessing you're feeding kibble? If it is allergies, you might be looking at expensive hypoallergenic kibble, or switching to a BARF diet.

If it is mange, then at least here the usual treatment is the kind of stuff you pour on their necks, not something you inject. After about a week the dog will experience an allergy-like reaction as the mites start dying, treating with a soothing shampoo might be a good idea at that point, I think one product is called DermaCool, or something similar.

Anyway, if you have a choice of veterinarians, try to go to one who's familiar with small animal skin issues. That'll save you some time and trouble.

Just one heart beat, I'm big already but that's normal for me... ultrasound next month hoping to find out the sex then.
I can't imagine eating wild mallard, they're just so small, there's not a ton of meat on my ducks and they are a lot bigger. You could pick off wild ones in my yard, a small group comes here yearly.
You know what's cool about the muscovy, I don't clip them so the younger ones fly up onto my deck and come to the door, very friendly. I love watching them fly.

This is on the pigs. The inside of the spotted ones ears are all chewed up and she just rubs and scratches against everything. After doing a bunch of reading I'm guessing mange mites as that is what matches the symptoms she has. Going to treat all 3 cause I'm betting they all have them. A dose of ivomec won't hurt them anyway as the lady I got then from has never dewormed them.

My fault for not really inspecting her. I was working all hours at tthe time by the time I noticed I was seeing the arch of her back just before her hips. It was winter time and I was furious.

Brought her home and she immediately started loosing hair. I was free feeding her so she was putting on weight fast. So I gave the ivermectin a try. It wont hurt your horse if they dont need it. Dosed her one week waited ten days and dosed her again. By the third week the hair on her face started coming back.

I am soo lucky shes good with tube wormers. I tape two together to give her her dose. BIG Girl. I also used it on my goats ONe tube for four goats.... The one i got smelled like apples.
