There's a guy in our area that sells cages similar to those but they have a hinged door on one side and they fold up flat too... they're heavy as all heck, but they're heavy duty and reasonably priced...

that'd be nice with a door. Bet I can make a decent one with some feedlot panels and a skid.

I should figure out how many eggs I could fit into my Brinsea 40... maybe 2? Which makes me think I should buy them hatched if I want 3 or 4.

@BriardChickens That ad gone, new one 40 minutes away. Can emu that age be unsexable? When do they start laying?

Guess it depends on what time they were born in 2013, but they should be reaching maturity.

youngsters have to have their blood tested to tell the sex. They like to play in the water on hot days... So silly

Duck folks:
I picked up my muscovey eggs today. I was told there are
probably khaki campbell eggs mixed it. This will be my first attempt trying to hatch anything other than chicks

Hummmmm, might be a bit tricky.

I find my muscovy eggs do great with chicken humidity, but they take a horrid long time to incubate (5 weeks) and they hatch more slowly than chickens.

Campbell eggs will have a different incubation time,(4 weeks) and might be happier with a higher humidity during incubation.

I wouldn't want to know what the feed bill would be for emus.
There used to be a small ostrich farm over the hill from us, had at least 50. Back road, I was driving down it yrs ago and one was out, pretty cool, had my window down, it was walking beside me in my old subaru brat, thing was way taller than I was, walking inches from me, talking to it lol, it was just bobbing along. I stopped at the trailer above the place and told them one was out, woman says 'it's not the black one is it?' yeah it was black...She freaked out told me to not go near it ''OHH my god ohh my god, don't go near it I don't know what we are going to do, that's the male ohh my god I have to call my dad" and she ran back in leaving me there...I drove off didn't know what to do, I see a cow or horse out I usually offer to help get it back in but she slammed the door in my face and ran.
I just was driving down the road talking to the thing inches away, I didn't know it could peck my head off Lol!!
