any one made homemade sourcrout....

One thing to do with the canned stuff is give it a light rinse and cook it with Apples The apples mitigate the tang and gives the crout an intersting taste.

nother thing on my list.... crout making

Yeh, like decades ago...did like ten gallons in the fall and canned it all up. Was real easy and I got to use some heirloom items kickin' round here from family...Rick's slaw cutter, his ginormous crock...yeh...why do you ask??? 'Cause I likely don't remember all I did past it turned out fab and I need to grow up enough to do it again (like all things homegrown, it is far better than grocery)...jest ordered up two organic cabbages that might work out swell...Early Jersey Wakefield & Golden Acre.

I buy mine now, in glass jars, had some two days ago in fact...pork ribs and topped with crout. Good recipe when you're working outside and you don't want to be bothered about someone having to stand over a stove. Toss in some taters and you got a meal fit for

You can even throw them pork ribs in frozen if you start it up early enough in the day.

Baked in oven, browned and major delish...

Remember to come inside and turn it once...

Mighten hafta eat the leftovers but I think Rick mighten know I had LUNCH...and a real good one.

Leftovers planned up already tonight but heck, it's beef pot roast in the crock from yesterday. There'd be plenty....yeh, sour breath at mere 10 a.m. ... dunno the dogs won't mind...what the hay, eh!

Guess its about time for me to post some pics on here. I've been on the down low a little bit. Just busy, as I know we all are

1st pic is a Cuckoo Maran I got as a chick last spring. She was suppose to be a HE. Someone tell me that she might be a HE

2nd is pic of my experiment last spring. This is a cross between CCL roo x BR hen. I should add the EE that photo bombed the pic, her name is Turkey because she doesn't "Bawk" like a chicken. She makes clucking noises that sound just like turkeys.

@vehve , This rooster was born in July. He is a cross between Sue (SS) and unknown hen. He grew massive quick! He is already showing "rooster behavior" as well. As soon as it warms up a bit, his name is Dinner! I really like how quick and massive the SS breed grow....without hormones and genetic altering!

These are the eggs I washed up this morning before work. It's 3 days worth. They are laying about a dozen a day. I still can't keep all my egg orders filled.

Blessings.

Have a good day everyone.

Good looking birds, and the roo looks about right for 7 months, I'd like to slaughter them at 4-5 months though, and only our Marans have had a bit more meat on them by then. The two Sss we had were super slow, and while our mutts tend to be big by then, they're just feathers and bones, no meat.

Loads of veining in the bator here.
